Survey: Tony Hawk to get board peripheral on 360, PS3; new Spider-Man to use Wii Fit board
Sounds like the peripheral geeks at Activision got bored with plastic instruments and decided that balance boards were the wave of the future. The marketing survey scraping continues, with details on two different Activision franchises using two different board peripherals: an as-yet-unnamed Spider-Man title for Wii will support the Wii Fit balance board while Tony Hawk's Adrenaline will use "a new motion sensing board controller."
What's most notable about the Tony Hawk title: it's only listed for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC ... meaning, no Wii Fit balance board peripheral. Both titles appear to be designed from the ground up for their respective peripherals, with the Spider-Man game wrapping an action title around foot-based controls. Same rules apply for these two games as with everything scraped today: consider it rumor until Activision says otherwise. These could simply be concepts as opposed to actual games under development.

And so it begins...
The Hardcore Wars that is...

perhaps there is no mention of the tony hawk game for wii or a board because wiifit is the board. no need to plan a board so no mention to get leaked
Jerk Face @ Jun 15th 2008 11:13PM
Well, I mean.. if it's made by Activision you just KNOW it's going to be good.
Jakka @ Jun 16th 2008 10:56AM
Is it just me or did all the EA hate suddenly jump onto Activision?
mr nimblewick @ Jun 15th 2008 11:22PM
I like the board for wiifit, but I don't think I would like it for any other game. Unless those games also track my exercise.

Hooray! Three consoles with identical functionality! Yaaaaaaaaaaay!

I guess it could work for Spiderman if it were some sort of hover board type of level. I just can't see it working for a skateboarding game because the thing is stationary and there is no real sense of popping off the board and doing a trick. I think Skate captured it as best a console can with the dual analog sticks and the multiple movements.
I don't know because I don't have Wii Fit and I never will own it. Maybe the thing is better than it looks but to me it just looks stupid. If anyone has it and loves it thats awesome. I have no had the chance to use it but then again there are plenty of other gimmicks I have never used and I know they suck.
The funny thing is its called Wii Fit but from what I have read it is not meant to help you lose weight. Rather, it is used to help you track weight loss. So, it really sounds as if it is just a glorified scale to me. Maybe I am wrong about it or maybe I don't understand its complexity and I am just over simplifying it.

Maybe you should try it before you write it off. I've lost about 6lbs in the last 2 weeks, mostly due to it.
John McPoop (PSN:johnnynumber5) @ Jun 15th 2008 11:30PM
So what is Wii Fit?
Is it a visual representation of your weight fluctuation? It just does not make much sense to me on its surface especially for the price of the balance board.
commen-cents @ Jun 15th 2008 11:53PM
really now?

I've said it in the Avatar thread too, it's undeniable, even to the most hardened hater of all things Nintendo, that they're doing it right if everyone keeps copying them.
007craft @ Jun 16th 2008 12:21AM
why are you guys upset with copycats? If guy A invents product X and guy B takes product X and makes it better and adds all the stuff that Guy A should of done, this is a BENEFIT for you, the consumer. I couldnt care who copies who. Microsoft can copy every idea the want, if they make them better, then Ill play them. Im not handing out originality awards. I dont care who innovates best, I care who makes the best of whatever so its more fun for me.
As for this tony hawk board, theis will be the first THPS game I dont buy. The lure has always been about points and crazy combos for me. I dont even like skateboarding in real life. So making me balance on a skateboard to play the game is a HUGE turnoff for me.
SoulBlade @ Jun 16th 2008 8:29AM
People hate them because MS isn't going to improve anything that drastically, and all of the fanboys will love it anyway. It's just going to be funny to see everyone who hated on Nintendo because they were Nintendo love MS when they do the exact same thing.
kataztrophy @ Jun 16th 2008 12:56AM
Whatever happened to Sony's Wii remote knock off? Or was that just some messed up fluke of a rumor?
CJLopez @ Jun 16th 2008 2:30AM
So, bouth Sony and Microsoft are reseraching on motion sensitive controls, just like wiimotes, and now Activision want to bring board peripherials to the PS3 and the 360????
So, in other words, Nintendo is driving the whole video game industry the way they want???
Then again, this is bussines, the race of the industry, what industry A has, will be copied by industry B and C, and viceversa
Jamesology @ Jun 16th 2008 3:28AM
CJLopez...
yes "bouth" companies are copying the 'A' bussines.
Most of the time it is referred to as 'Supply and Demand.'

Magazine add for Q Motions also lists PS3 in it's "Coming Soon" advertisement.
