I doubt Nintendo's team of ninja lawyers are that naïve to think people will NEVER use exploits to pirate game.

actually pirated games work fine, it's only homebrew that doesn't.

If you install WAD Installer 2.1, you can still install stuff without the Twilight Hack. I'm not sure if there is a way to still boot .elf files though.

Can anybody that's updated confirm whether Gecko Region Free still works (with a pre-update HBC install, obviously)?

I love Nintendo, but FUCK THEM for killing the Freeloader. It's not like they don't receive revenue from me buying imports. This is just another inch of Nintencock in the ass of every PAL territory.

I don't think they were intentially trying to kill FreeLoader, as it only allows people to play LEGIT import games (not pirated ISOs).

However, it's an unfortunate casualty of their attempts to squash piracy. The current version of FreeLoader works through the same exploit the Twilight Hack does. So, patching up that hole also stops FreeLoader.

I'm sure Datel will come out with a new version that works on v.3.3+ Wii systems.

Nope - the Freeloader actually uses the same exploit as the Trucha signing bug (not the Twilight Hack), which in itself doesn't allow piracy at all (you need a modchip to run Trucha signed discs). If Datel come out with another version of the Freeloader, Nintendo will probably just block that shit too.

Still looking for confirmation on Gecko Region Free is anyone has the hook-up.

To all those people saying 'I won't be updating' you do realise this update will be on new games in the future, so your never going to buy another game just to run a few homebrew apps?

I'm surprised at people's general restrain over this. I thought the fantards would be out in force crying like babies, but I guess even the worst idiot can see that Nintendo are completely in their right here.

If the Freeloader is permanently disabled this will probably be the last straw for me.

Its disabled, but, I can assure you a new hack will come and you 'll just have to update something or change something

Also, there is a homebrew freeloader which works.... works, xD

I hope everyone who is using the Homebrew Channel hasn't also downloaded the Nintendo Channel, never mind reviewing the HBC from it! Such reckless stupidity not only ruins the fun for everyone else, but is just inviting Nintendo to ban their Club Nintendo account (if they've linked their account like they recommend you to do) and prevent you from participating in online play in the few games that have it.

It's at N's discretion whether they do that, will they or won't they?

CONFIRMED guys, this updated disabled the Freeloader on my Wii. I get an error whenever I try to use it now, saying to restart my console.

Back to the Xbox then.

HAH! I just installed the Homebrew Channel two days ago!

Also, my Wii is fortunately out of range of any internet.

At least Nintendo's polite enough to *warn* you that they're about to kill your homebrew and give you the choice about upgrading.

Well it looks like it's time to install that Wad installer channel before I update. I guess it's also a great time to import my orginal save file back to the same and play through TP again.

Also I'm happy that Nintendo included the info about the "unauthorized modification of save file". As soon as I read that my spidey sense kicked in and the update button didn't look so appealling anymore. They really didn't have to be that specific in what the update was for, so I thank Nintendo for giving me the heads up and a little time to decide what to do next.

This update really needs to play that Rage Against The Machine song in the background instead of the usual Wii twittle.

"Mii's On Parade! Duh-nuh Du-nuh Duh-duh-duh-nuh...Mii's On Parade!"

Heh, I read the first paragraph and thought "Wow, that sounds kinda pointless. Why put your own Miis into your own parade?" Then i read the second paragraph and realized

This update would be such a perfect smokescreen if they didn't make the deliberate warning.

Meant to add

But the fun is that the next big Nintendo release will force everyone to update anyway, so the window of time before you have to start actively avoiding pretty much every big Wii game is probably in the range of two months or so

To get round the problem of future games (which won't be trucha) that will automatically request updates for those who have not updated.... Wouldn't it be possible to make a custom update firmware, that basically is 3.3 but with the loopholes of 3.2?

Or perhaps just change the fields that the new games disc will check to see if you are upto date or not?
