Yeah amazing photoshop. Idea for a new one: Xav throwing a copy of madden 09 into/through a giant screen displaying Richard's head parodying that crazy apple super bowl commerical.

Xav needs to come up with his own photoshop job with a quickness. I haven't even played the game or listened to his argument but right now, I gotta go with Richard. Look at him. Dude's got the passion! It's infectious.

Well, in fairness, he does say that it's a 'good' game. he doesn't out and out knock it.

But that's not as fun to write :)

ohhhhh... there we go!

Ok, I will DL this now and listen, i am going to give mr. xav the benefit of the doubt and assume he has a good case to present.

Im not one to stick up for a game usually, but man, NG2 really is a good game IMO. I love when a game knows what it does and does that very well. I judge the game based on its combat obviously and how everything ties into that. In that regard I say it is the best at what it does on the 360.

Don't let these jerks get to you Xav, I'm just as disappointed at Italy's showing this year as you are. Though they still have a chance to get to the quarter finals if Netherlands beat Romania and they can pull off a win against France tomorrow.

Being a lovely european, Ive got my hands on the full CivRev game. Must say its awesome, never really give Civ on the PC a chance, but really like the simple interface, but very detailed game. Only issue, that people may not like is the fact the map size in the demo is the same as the full game.

Fellas,

Kudos on the Sessler Soapbox segment. As you can tell from my avatar, I'm African-American and I find it disgusting when I hear certain people acting that way. I played the BF:BC demo and within the first 3 minutes I heard racial and sexual slurs, by teenage boys no less. Dustin, I loved the 'My hand would break the sound barrier' comment. Hilarious man.

This behavior is not an exaggeration and I'm glad someone is standing up for it. I didn't report them as it was my 1st time ever on Gold but you bet I will learn how and do it EVERY TIME I hear it.

Anyway, good show. Keep it up. Any word on the Lost Odyssey contest?

Nice Fancast. It was kind of emotional at times.

Can we get Richard Elliot to make a photoshop of Dustin as Scarface with his head buried in a HUGE pile of coke? That would be a great addition to the facebook.

Oh, and what's with the Zune art? It's crap!

I meant to comment on Adam Sessler post, but I never did. I'll post about it here, since it was discussed in the podcast.

I completely agree with Sessler. There is no place for kind of conduct anywhere, not just on Xbox LIVE. I'll agree with Alexander that I think the biggest contributor to this problem is the lack of parenting. If I ever heard my child talking like this, their Xbox days would be over for a long, long time. Unfortunately, most people are probably using the Xbox to babysit their kids so they don't have to.

Anyway, I've recently enabled the privacy feature that will mute everyone but people in your friends list. I got so tired of the jackasses on Call of Duty 4 and the in-game muting only works during the match, not in the lobby. It's sad that it has come to this. Voice communication is important in many of the games I play on Xbox LIVE, but it's not worth it having to listen to all the idiots that exists on the internets.

The only reason people act so horribly on Xbox live is to get a reaction out of the people they are playing with and there are no consequences.

Their is really no way to prevent it though because of the huge number of people playing a huge number of games. The logistics of banning people and making sure you get the right people banned are too complicated. It sounds like a good idea but it wouldn't work in practice, you'd have all kinds of stories about how this or that person shouldn't have been banned. And where do you draw the line which swear words or off limits and which aren't, how can you prove somebody said something offensive, its a very large can of worms to open.

The funniest part of that whole discussion is that Xav keeps calling the people "retards". Which many people find an offensive word.

In the end though its only words and peoples reactions are the only ones that give them power, its not like xbox live is going to incite any kind of violence.

Long-time Joystiq 'lurver'. First-time X3F listener.

After listening to the commentary about the idiots on Xbox Live and its degradation over the years, I am converted, and will catch-up with the backlog.

Fantastic podcast, folks.

I just listened to the Fancast and I was a little frustrated with the discussion about idiots on Xbox Live.

I agree the culture needs to change and it could be policed more but Microsoft does give you the tools to help them identify people who are violating the terms of service with their racist and abusive comments.

Please! File a complaint. Don’t just click “Avoid this player.” Do the extras step and file a complaint. I know this works because I have been confronted by individuals on Halo 3 forum who I have filed complaints on and then have been banned from live. I’ve also gotten a couple of them banned from the Bungie forums because they sent me threatening PMs. The complaint system is Microsoft’s tool to help them identify jerks they can monitor.

I know it’s a drag. All you want to do is get online, play a couple of games and not have to deal with it.

Things will never change unless you stand up to these people. It frustrates me more that everyone complains all the time about these jerks and you never take personal responsibility and use the tools given to you to get these people banned.

I think the things Microsoft should do to make the service a little better are…

-Make the process of filing a complaint easier and less intimidating.

-Get rid of the star rating…it’s pointless and confuses people into thinking these are trusted folks on the service. Even Hitler had friends.

-Make it a standard (some games allow this) to allow people to access gamertag records in game so that you can permanently mute and or file a complaint instead of waiting until after the game is done and trying to remember which people were the jerks. For instance, it’s much more cumbersome process in COD4 compared to HALO.

Sorry for the wall of text. I just had to get it out of my system.

I think we make it clear that people should file a complaint. Maybe it was the next episode or previous ones but we very much encourage reporting and filing a complaint.
