While we've got no Murlocs today, we did try our hand at making a Moogle. Check out all our creations via the gallery below. Each one contains a link to the creature's respective Sporepedia page where you can download and edit our work.
A week with Spore Creature Creator: Day One
20
In our quest to familiarize ourselves with the laws of nature (and subsequently defy them), this week we're going to share at least five abominations, one each day, that we've concocted in Spore Creature Creator. You can keep track of this writer's progress via this Spore profile page.

Very disappointed with the demo.
Basically, where is the physics?

Personally I think that your main problem is believing that basic biology applies to this title. For example, the creature you provided, who's to say that the upper bulbous portion isn't filled with helium or somehow floats and all it needs is a little foot to drag it around? Or perhaps it can propel itself some other way and uses the foot to steer?
Spore isn't supposed to be realistic, it's supposed to be a game with a really powerful editor that can let you make some amazing creatures, physics be damned.

The point of Spore is that you can create anything you want without the game telling you you're wrong.
Imagine if you finally picked out all the parts and colors for your creature only to find it flop around on the ground.

Yeah I know... where are the physics? Didn't all the demos they showed us pride themselves on the physics (Robin William's creature sagged with weight, lol... I wouldn't care if my creatures sagged a ton because they defied gravity so much, better than randomly floating). Maybe it's just in the real game the physics will be back. I sorta like the challenge of making a balanced creature, both functionally and physically.

Ah. I see that you downloaded it as well. I downloaded it yesterday but didn't have the time to play with it. I'll try it out sometime today and write a preview of it on Pariah's Guild (www.pariahs-guild.com)

I really hope this comes to the consoles cause my older than Methuselah PC can't quite handle it.

Au contraire, it is quite possible. Smaller planet with lower gravity, air bladders filled with helium produced as a byproduct of diet, antigravity appendix... the list goes on! The appendix is stretching it, but I couldn't resist the alliteration.
Clipping limbs? Gelatinous.

Then you obviously forget this is made by the famous Will Wright, creator of The Sims, one of the most famous games in the industry. This isn't a movie maker trying to put a spin on games.

I need to download this as soon as I get home. I've been waiting and waiting for this and am surprised I didn't pick it up sooner.
I've been out of touch with the tech world quite a bit lately.

Trial runs pretty well on Mac, surprising considering it's a Cider port. Might upgrade to the full version if I can figure out how to not make my creatures look like arse!
