Bad Company makes fun of Solid Snake
44
Whether or not you own a PS3, there's a pretty good chance you caught wind of the Metal Gear Solid 4 release last week. There's also a pretty good chance that you are at least familiar with the series. Perhaps you even know that Solid Snake, protagonist of the series, has a habit of hiding in barrels and boxes. There's one thing we know for sure though, and that is that Battlefield: Bad Company developer DICE definitely knows about the series. In a new video the soldiers of Bad Company poke fun at the longstanding Metal Gear convention. In short, it's pretty damned funny. Find the video after the break.

Makes up for the MGS4 'disc' joke, and it's not nearly as corny and/or commercial.

Any game that has that much of a sense of humor will get my hard earn dollars.

Instead of making mildly amusing videos about a game series that is still doing well and has beaucoup more depth, EA and Dice should be focusing on fixing the broken gameplay and dying series known as Battlefield, Bad Company in particular.

Hey, some games might not be perfect, but humour certainly helps us get by.

The disc joke was moreso a reference to the MGS past using cds and dvds and not so much a slap in the face of other consoles.

It's funny how people say that but wouldnt have they addressed that on the PS2 if that was the point? If I remember correctly MGS2 and 3 were 1 disc so waiting for the 4th one to make fun of the 1st one makes no sense

Well, if you played the game instead of acting like someone took a shit on your shoe, you would know that MGS 4 takes a lot of swipes at the first MGS game.
So when you look at the disc swapping thing in CONTEXT, you would understand that it is an in-joke.

Whocares ¬_¬ MGS2 and MGS3 did not revisit a famous location seen in MGS1 did they, a locaton of which you had to swap disks in the first.
Does that explain?

Where the disc joke is made on MGS4 is where you would have changed disc on the original MGS on the Playstation. It was dumb anyways because of the install times.

That's hilarious! I really enjoyed the demo for Bad Company and I hope the full game is just as good. It's a bit glitchy but it's a demo. Hell if they can keep it tongue in cheek with spot on humour like that I'm all in!

That pic above is a lie. There isn't that much colour in MGS4! Great trailer BTW, just great.

Man I can what this a 1000 times over and it's still funny as hell!
Great ad at the unfortunate expense of MGS4.
No love lost!

The videos are really funny but I'm with Vader582. I wish they would AT LEAST allow for entire team chat. To only be able to chat with 3 people on your squad makes no sense at all. I have guys driving past me in tanks and cars that I can't signal. I can't call for medical help. For a "team" game that would seem like a default function.

Medics should be healing you... when your a medic anyone who requires medical assistance is designated on your map with a + symbol, regardless of whether they are in your squad or not. I like the squad chat, i been hoping microsoft adopts a multiperson private chat for a while now.

I'm 33. I thought it was funny. We all know you're an oversensitive MGS fan that can't take a joke. Move along.

I agree with you. This just wasn't funny. I'm not sensitive about MGS either. I am sensitive to the fact that the demo for BF:BC stinks and making cutesy videos should be the least of EA's and Dice's worries. MGS pokes fun at itself all the time. This just wasn't funny to anyone who doesn't still watch MTV and love it.

Don't think I implied I was ever intelligent either. The above was my second post and it shows. Bless, you've shown that your smarter than myself (by clicking 'reply') maybe you should join the army for real (or better yet... Dear god, don't).

The funny thing is, this game is much closer to the dialogue between soldiers than any other game I've ever played.
I tire of the "Special Forces" games that put you in the role of a super soldier who is all about the mission. Real soldiers crack wise and have a rather dark sense of humor in stressful situations.

Woooo MGS4 is the best selling game right now...seeing that it has been hyped up since before the PS3 came out and everyone who has bought a PS3 more or less bought it in anticipation for that game, it's more or less expected.
Whoopdy friggin' doo the flagship game of a system sold a bunch of copies...because there's finally a game to play for the system other than Motostorm or something that's also available for the 360. I'm not going to put down MGS4...but it's not like PS3 owners have had a bunch of other major releases eating away at their savings.
