Marc Franklin, director of public relations at Nintendo, tells GamePro that "core gamers" will be interested in what the company has in store for E3. Although Franklin mentions Mario Super Sluggers (we can sense Europe going into fever pitch!), he gives very little detail on what else the company has planned.
There's been plenty of speculation about what Nintendo may reveal, but Franklin's comments come as Nintendo's more casual oriented Wii Fit storms the sales charts and a certain executive takes a jab at the Nintendo faithful. Franklin concludes that third-party publishers are rolling out more titles as they realize the "Wii is the current platform of choice in this generation." True, but these rollouts don't always equal payoffs. We're looking at you, Boom Blox.

too little too late Nintendonald's. real hardcore gamers dont care about you anymore. now go release Wii Sports 2 and hope your precious non-gamers/casual gamers get fooled again by the clever marketing.

As someone that watches the MLB coverage on Five in the UK whenever I can, I'll be buying Super Mario Sluggers. I'll get to work on Miis of Jonny Gould and Josh Chetwynd so I'm ready for it.

Guess I'll throw my 2 cents in.
I've been a Nintendo supporter all along. The systems I've owned are NES, SNES, Sega Genesis (my only deviation), Gamecube, DS, Wii. I've been gaming for 15+ years.
Now, I don't regret buying the Wii because there are plenty of good games for it. Galaxy, RE4 (I have both versions), Mario Kart, Zelda:TP, Metroid, Z&W just to name a few...
That being said, I'm looking forward to, maybe even depending on, this E3 more than any other before it because I really want to see what Nintendo has in store for the "core" gamer. There have been some missteps by Nintendo in this generation that are GLARING oversights in my mind (SSBB's terrible online play comes to mind, I sold my copy a couple weeks after getting it and never looked back).
I suppose my complaints aren't so much that they're catering more to the casual crowd (hey, it makes money). My complaints stem from them not delivering where they need to when it comes to the "core" gamer. AKA broken online play in a flagship game that the "core" gamer was dying for. I could go on, but this post is already long enough.

Vegata said: "Then in protest don't buy those games and buy only games that are actually good in order to support the developers so they make more of the same game.
And Mario Fart explorers? Really?"
I couldn't agree more. That's why I only have maybe 10 games (none which include Italian plumbers) for my Wii and some of those are crap but I'm a sucker for light-gun games.

I certainly hope they're going to announce something I might have an interest in. After being less-than-impressed with brawl and kart, my view of Nintendo has been tarnished a bit. It's nothing a few good games can't scrub clean, so get with the scrubbin'.

Lately I feel as if I've been supporting Nintendo, but they've not been supporting me.
Many of us here grew up with them, but they seem to have have forgotten that we GREW UP.
As an adult I want the ability to store loads of VC titles in one easily accessible place. And See which of my 'friends' are online doing what at anytime during any game, easily. And to speak online to other gamers if I so choose. I really hate been babied and treated like I woulnd't be able to do anything for myself should anyone ever get abusive in any way.
I'm a little bit more of a XBox man now, but a LOT less of a Nintendo man as well.
The only way they can start making it up to me and other "core" gamers (i.e the people who have been with them since the 80s and 90s) is:
By allowing us to use a hard drive
Sorting out voice chat for the games
Getting rid of the ridiculously stupid friend code crap AND
Game-specific code rubbish.
If they can do that then I would be willing to lend them my ear again. But now now they're not speaking to me, they're speaking to 'soccer moms', children and the casual gamer market.

i'm a rare "hardcore" gamer who is also a Nintendo fan. i was pissed about FFVII but i stuck with the N64 because i liked the franchises. got a GC. the past few years i've gotten a PS2 and 360 also, but i got my Wii on launch day. I'm a huge RPG fan but i stuck with them. So, i'm hoping for a new Zelda announcement and hopefully some exclusive RPG's. Animal Crossing Wii will probably be dated. Who knows.

well gipped again by a piss poor showing from Nintendo
Obviously when they said core gamer they were referring to the casual market - which is obviously the soul focus for Nintendo now, with the hardcore gamers like myself and others that have supported Nintendo over the decades now swiftly cast to the side.
I also like the fact that by default they basically came out and admitted that the motion control sucks (much like a certain company with a notorious red coloured ring, except Nintendo would'nt dare admit it made a mistake) rather than fix the problem and compensate - Nintendo chooses to charge their valued customers for the upgrade and make it necessary to play new games.
You fanboys need to wake up and smell the massive turd that myamoto just took in your coffee
