i have a 360 and my biggest problem with it is the unreliablility (the 360 is retarded... i have to update a game every time i start it up. A.K.A. it doesn't remember game updates). also, online isn't free. Now that sony has most of the features the 360 has for free, maybe microsoft will get on the "free = good" bandwagan

I beat it in 17 hours. Didn't skip any cutscenes and I got the 10th ranking (Eagle) after I beat it, so I guess I did pretty good as far as gameplay is concerned.

I looked up the other end-of-game rankings on IGN and you can get a Big Boss ranking by beating the game in under 5 hours and 45 minutes or something like that.

One more thing: I've received two "awards" or something like that in Metal Gear Online. I'm assuming they'll transfer to trophies after 2.40. 5 headshots and 3 consecutive headshots.

Thank God for basic functionality (rolls eyes).

I wonder if this will include cross-game chat?

Mostly likely and if they don't then I quit having faith in there ability to win the console war unless they counter act not having cross in game chat with a mention of FFXIII 08 release that I've been waiting for too long after beating that garbage of an FF RPG they call FFXII I've been waiting.

Cross game chat is gonna happen hopefully this guy can tell us the feature of Ingame XMB and elaborate more on Trophies and how they will manage them.

My friend has 11 Trophies in R2 yeah it just doesn't sound right without some numerical value.

What is XMB and why is it so important that the PS3 have it?

yea the Cross(X) Media Bar is the UI that the PS3 uses, not unlike the 360 Dashboard. if you ever used a PSP, then you've used the XMB. its almost exactly the same between both devices, as well as some of Sony's Bravia TV's and Home Theater systems.

just the way you move around on the console in a nutshell. and the big deal is that PS3 owners cant get to it during gameplay to answer messages, voice chat, play music, browse the net for guides, etc.

The reason it's important to have it is because it's part of the system! It's not something new for the PS3 (is the Xbox 360 Dashbpoard part of an update for the 360? No, it's part of the system).
the XMB (CrossMediaBar) is the PS3 equivalent of the Xbox 360 Dashboard.
In-game XMB is the equivalent of the Xbox Guide, and is what everyone on this thread is talking about. They're not releasing XMB, they're releasing IN-GAME XMB.

Is that possible? I'd love to be able to scour for cheats or a walkthrough while playing a game! : )

Well, if you can access the XMB during gameplay then you must be able to browse the internet. I was thinking more along the lines for when i'm using a guide for a game and don't wanna sit at my computer and instead just chill on my bed and do everything on my big tv.
