Underworld's Len Wiseman set to helm Gears of War movie

We're guessing that original writer Stuart Beattie is out, as THR says the picture will be written by Chris Morgan, who has previously worked on the screenplays for Wanted (encouraging!) and The Fast and the Furious 4: The Furiousening (troubling!). So there's your crew, what kind of Gears movie are you expecting?

Die Hard 4 wasn't bad but he seems more like a decent director than a great one, my concern is more the writer who I have a feeling is awful unless somehow Wanted actually turns out alright this summer

So according to Wikipedia, the next sequel to "The Fast and the Furious" is called "Fast and Furious." Removing those direct articles makes all the difference!

I can tell you are obviously a fan of the game, so you took umbrage to me insulting a film adaptation of it that hasn't come out yet. The plot of the game was its weakest point. If you think that plot can tow the line for a film adaptation spearheaded by a sub-par director and a sub-sub-par writer, then you have a forthcoming lesson in disappointment

They guy who made Underworld was the guy who made Die Hard 4.0? Seriously??
Die Hard 4.0 was an awesome movie (though I heard that the studio hired an awesome editor to cut it down to PG-13, so that might have had something to do with it*)... can't believe it was made by the same guy who made the mess that was Underworld and the much bigger mess that was U:Evolution.
At least he seems to have learned something.
*if only they'd got that guy in to edit down the Pirates sequels and the Transformers movie maybe they'd have turned out good too. sigh.

This movie will be shit with len and co. Come on, underworld was so middle of the road and underworld: evolution wasn't much better (just blue-er.) And die hard 4?? huuuh!
What's gonna happen in GoW: the Film:
Marcus - vin diesal
Dom - Kevin smith
Baird - Justin Long or Scott (please kill him) Speedman
Cole - Cliff Curtis
Doms mrs (maria?) - angelina jolie (why not)
And wen they drive anyware they have to constantly drift, even when not cornering and will grind the car across a brumaks face. And marcus will be able to curve bullets - just because.

Did....did joystiq just compliment Chris Morgan on his screenplay for Wanted? Having been a fan of the series, Chris Morgan based his entire film, judging by every trailer and information tidbit, on literally, absolute literally 2 scenes of that comic. He just absolutely bastardized the living hell out of that story line, (RIP Mr. Rictus). Point being, if he could gut one of the most amazing comic lines I've ever read, I shudder to think of what profound bullshit he could smear all over the GOW franchise.

I'd be pleased if it was created in the same visual style of the new Beowulf movie, with all the voice actors from the game. They soooo need an unrated DVD version too.
