The big overhaul of Team Fortress 2's Pyro class won't arrive until tomorrow, but Valve is pulling the veil off of the changes today, including three new weapons and 35 new achievements for the firestarter.
At the top there, you see the Flare Gun, which replaces the Pyro's shotgun and lets you light up enemies at long range. In the middle? It's the Axtinguisher, the melee weapon that always makes a critical hit on flaming enemies. Finally, there's the Back Burner, which is guaranteed to crit if it hits a foe from behind.
If we still haven't cured your pyromania (we've been waiting all post to say that) check out all the details right here.

I feel like Valve doesn't love me unless I own the PC version. :(

For some reason I'm inclined to believe its MS at fault not valve.
Unless someone has announced an actual reason.

Just get the PC version. It can run on really old machines just fine and the community is larger and better on the PC. Plus you get all the custom maps and obviously the updates.

They have to pay for certification of every update... and MS might be being a jerk about releasing stuff so significant without charging.
So odds are, once everything is said and done, you guys will be paying for an expansion with all of the major updates simultaneously.

Im also not sure how the added achievements will work. every game gets 1k points, and I don't think they can change point values.

Call me an analyst, but I predict that the TF2 360 will get an update once all class updates are complete and will have extra achievements (they are allowed to put in new achievements if the update is big - I think Oblivion did).
It will probably cost.
Also, I predict that people will buy more videogames in the future.

Valve is the only loving I get these days, since I don't play consoles nearly as much these days.

Haha, I can imagine the many piles of noobs being killed by the backstinguisher.

Well, last time was for the medic, which isn't really a big damage-dealing class anyway.

This is going to be a great update. Although teams will have way too many pryos for a few days (I feel bad for the people who play this weekend for the first time and have to face 3-4 pyros at all times) I am excited to see the balancing issues with these new guns, and hope that it doesn't make the game too ridiculous (And definitely I am looking forward to future updates).

Joystiq you forgot the biggest change, the ability for the Pyro to deflect missiles and push enemies.

Yeah, that's a godsend. I think that Valve said that they purposfully made some of the medic achievements really hard so that they could get a feel of what the community wanted.
I guess it's pretty clear that the community wants feasible achievements.

These look totally badass. Pyro is the ultimate close range fighter now (with a flare gun to help at distance). Just need to practice switching flame to ax real quick.
Oh, man, how many class updates are left? I want this on CCCLX so bad.

Press Q or previous weapon.
It's fiendishly fun as it is, and should be a riot with the additions.

It's also nice that they really are improving the class as a whole with the air compress thing. I don't exactly see how it will stop melee rocket kills of both the pyro and the soldier, but it's pretty cool nonetheless.
The flare gun sounds like fun but will make the pyro even more defenseless in the water.

I love Valve for being one of the few (Or the only?) company that actually likes PC users, unlike most of the other ones who regularly kick PC nerds in the balls and laugh.

Err, wouldn't talking about all this new Pyro stuff make our pyromania worse as opposed to ridding us of the desire to unleash fiery death upon our enemies?
Not to be a killjoy or anything...
