GameTap Thursday: MDK, Cosmic Osmo and Descent II

The Interplay titles keep returning to GameTap as Descent II and MDK rejoin the service. We know that everyone's waiting for Fallout, but MDK is a pretty sweet game. Of course, the whole reason for playing it is to see the bizarre music video at the end of the game, which even today is still fantastically jarring.

Cosmic Osmo (Windows) - There's some vague memory of having played this on a Mac way back in the day.
Descent II (Windows) - Shoot everything in 360 degrees of blasting awesomeness.
MDK (Windows) - If you can cope with the weirdness, there's a fun third-person shooter in there.

This week GameTap's list of free games welcomes Dracula Twins (never invite a vampire in!) and Five Card Deluxe. We also received an image from GameTap with the release schedule for the company's upcoming original game Grimm. We've placed the free games list and the Grimm release image after the break.

MDK is one of the games I wish someone would remake as a PSN download with current gen graphics.

I'm probably one of the only people who remembers this game from way back when... DAMN that takes me back.

I know! I used to play this on our Mac Plus as a kid all the time. It saddens me I need a PC to play it now.

I wonder if I could find a copy that works on OS X...

I really want to play MDK (never played it the 1st time). I've tried, but I just can't wrap my head around the control scheme. If they patched it to a standard FPS control scheme I'd definitely play it.

Correct. Man, where did the funny games go? MDK2 and Giants: Citizen Kabuto had me in chortles for months.

The very first game I got for PS1 was a Descent port, man was that game awesome

"If you can cope with the weirdness"? Its "weirdness" is an asset. Every generic shitpile of a so called "AAA title" released these days can learn a thing or two.

MDK & MDK2 were an amazing games. Although MDK outshines the sequel in my opinion. Hopefully Interplay is still planing on making another installment.
