Guitar Hero Aerosmith sponsors NASCAR ... car
Our favorite part of professional stock car racing (and there are so many to choose from) is how through the magic of branding, cars become meeting places for totally rad, totally American iconography that really has no business being meshed.
Take, for example, the above car, sponsored by Activision's Guitar Hero Aerosmith and ... Target. Finally, America's love for Steven Tyler's seething, Ben-Gay-slathered pseudo-sexuality can be melded with its love of value and flown on one giant fossil fuel-burning flag. God bless you marketing drones, you're the whole reason we're still getting out of bed.

Could be too large, could not be the right format. Also the reply Email, I think, is suppose to do that.

At least they understand who their target market is.

We need to apply this kind of corporate sponsorship to other games. Can you imagine how much more awesome Army of Two would have been with the Target logo plastered all over the player's face mask?

Maybe Rock Band will sponsor a Formula One team. It'd be appropriate because Rock Band has more features, just like the F1 car can turn right, as well as left (shock horror)!

Yea I still don't understand why anyone watches NASCAR, especially on TV. It appears so mind numbingly boring, akin to watching someone grind their WoW character from lvl 1-70 in one sitting. I can't speak for watching it live for I haven't had the misfortune of attending a NASCAR race. But I suppose this is the target audience for nostalgic NASCAR dads.

Ironically, they are racing at Sonoma this weekend...

what's with all the NASCAR hate? NASCAR is a very entertaining sport to watch...you have to have a open mind to get started though.

Open or empty?
Sesur @ Jun 19th 2008 8:49PM
Did you say "sport"? lol

Don't mock NASCAR: it's extremely tiring, which is more than we can say compared to ESPN covering darts, snooker or poker.
Me personally though, I just don't see where the fun is from speeding around in circles for hours.

This car seems to do all of those sponsorships. This same car advertised Halo 3, I believe. Since nobody complained about that then, I really hope nobody complains about it now. Besides, its a non-intrusive form of advertising. Nothing to whine about.

There is no blending of Icons here. Target is the primary sponsor of the 40 car, it's logo is on the car most weeks. Guitar Hero wanted to sponsor an event so their logo is on the hood and the Target logos are placed elsewhere. Simple.
