That guitar looks sweet. I'd definitely use the touch frets.

Great another gi--- YESYESYEYSYESY!!!!

This is WIN. Except fo the 3rd remote for the drums, I really feel this is the game the Wii owners truley deserved. Finally a game that understands that the Wii is a now-gen console, and deserves to be treated like one.

I really love the bridge-style select button. Much easier for my palm to hit. Not only that, but you can hit it to mute the sound of the guitar in the music maker. That is awesome.

Really digging the longer whammy bar. I hope it controllers tighter than the GH3 Les Paul Whammy Bar. I don't want to have to rubber-band it. Also. I hope the inside of the whammy bar is made of steel so it never breaks. My SG's whammy bars have broken because of the plastic. One can dream, right?

Anyway, this is just absolutely great.

That deserved to be repeated.

And repeated again.

Harmonix, what a shame. You could've been great, but your old nemesis Activision comes back to show you up.

Nice. I really like how the Wii remote is integrated into both the guitar and the drums.

I also really appreciate that GH is giving Wii owners DLC instead of giving us lame excuses like Rock Band.

Does this means the GH3 guitar wont be compatible??? I just bought mine last week!, thinking it was worthy since I would be able to use it with GHWT also.

No, it's confirmed your old equipment will work with the new game, just not the new features in the game (the touch-sensitive playing, etc.).

From the story:

"Before you get in a huff about just buying the Les Paul or X-plorer models from past Guitar Hero games, know that Activision has told us these will still work in World Tour. They just won't have access to all of the new stuff the added features bring to the table."

The new features being the touch sensitive portion of the new guitars, so nothing game-breaking is lost.

Has there been any mention of peripheral compatibility? I like the GH3 Les Pauls and I don't want to have to buy two new guitars just to play what looks like the best GH yet.

The guitars will be compatible but will not be able to use the new features.
I hope GHWT will support stereo sound instead of mono :D

Yes, unlike Harmonix on the Wii, Activision will be supported in GH:WT (you just won't get any of the extra new features).

The GH3 guitars work for gameplay, but you won't get the full function of the Song Creator with them.

Fine for me, as I only have 1 Les Paul.

It looks way to much like rock band.... The mic looks like they took the guitar hero logo where the rock band one was which should be good cause it looks like the rock band mic will be compatible with GH:World Tour.

The touch fret seems neat but that's something to be seen. The DS and iphone/ipod touch do it well but on a game where you need to press things really fast. It would be nice if actvision played nicely and went along with harmonix's "open controller policy" harmonix offered to make patches for the strat to work in guitar hero games but activision didn't want it. The PS 3 version they made a patch for the les paul and actvision wanted to money for it. I'm sure the wii les paul could work for both GH3 and rock band but actvision has WAY to much pride.

This is going to be bad because now songs will only be for one game and not for both games. People are taking sides when they shouldn't have to over these games. Personally Guitar Hero should be for Guitar/Bass and Lead Rhythm Guitar. But now it looks like a clone. Rock Revolution is bad too. To many games can be bad because it can confuse people.

I bet that Rock Band 2 will have DLC for the wii later this year.
I feel that things should be put on hold judgement wise until E3 when Rock Band 2 is shown. Then it will be better to compare the two.

I own both GH3 and Rock Band enjoy them both. But actvision seems to be the bad guy with making people buy more instruments then is needed.

I'm sorry, maybe on other consoles Activision is the bad guy, but on the Wii, Harmonix is. They gave us a clearly gimped port, and it wasn't because of technical limitations. They could've easily given us DLC, but they didn't. They could've easily given us GH3 support, but they didn't- and that's not because of Activision as the Wii GH3 guitar just uses the standard open Wiimote interface, and Harmonix could've used it. They could've given us online play, but they didn't.

I'm not waiting for Rock Band, or Rock Band 2, because Harmonix spit in our face, and Activision is wiping it off and waiting on us hand and foot. Screw you Harmonix.

im sorry but i do own a 360 and i don't care if activision are always 'claimed' to be the bad guy.

i think guitar hero 3 was better than rock band, i do own them both as well so don't bother saying that i haven't played one.

i'm happy to see that activision are including so much in this game! it's really quite the feat! and they have Everlong!!!! Which is by far my most favourite song ever written=]

ima happy camper=]

GH4 looks amazing, especially since they said it will be fully featured compared to the PS3/360 versions.

I've already invested in GH3, so it looks like I'm going to pass up Rock Band and its future versions entirely. You might call Activision the bad guy for not following open controller standards, and there really is no excuse for the PS3/360 versions where Activision's failure to follow standards is inexcusable, but I like the fact that they used the remotes for the Wii version, and I don't think that there is anything blocking Harmonix from doing the same thing. The GH3 controller for Wii uses the same signals as the classic controller, it just doesn't identify itself as one.

On top of that, we at least got a decent version of GH3, but the Wii version of Rock Band is laughable. Harmonix passed over the Wii because they thought it was just a fad, and that was a huge mistake. A rushed PS2 port isn't going to make up for lost time, and I don't have the cash to invest in an army of incompatible peripherals.

If anything, I'll buy it as a karaoke game, because the microphone is certain to work on both, as its just a generic microphone - probably a logitech one. My little sister's High School Musical microphone works with her PS2 American Idol game and visa versa.

This is a 100% BUY for me. Why?

1) DLC *saved to, and read from* my SD Card.

2) NOT. FUCKING. GIMPED.

3) Everlong. Best Goddamn Song Ever.

Fake-instrument-playing gamers rejoice. We finally get the game we wanted.

1) This is making it hard for me to consider the GH:Aerosmith + guitar bundle

2) Personally hoping The Offspring will provide DLC for this as well, because I certainly can't justify to myself that I need to buy RockBand and a $400 console to play RockBand JUST SO I can *pretend* I'm playing Offspring songs. But damn I want to.

I am absolutely on board. I was... almost... considering Rock Band during the day today. This is the most enjoyable news I've heard regarding Guitar Hero in a long time.

I'd love to stick with Harmonix because they know what they're doing and pretty much reinvented the whole genre, but they blew it for me on this one. In order to play Rock Band properly it would require a new console, so GH:WT it is.

Wow... this is everything I was hoping for and more. When I heard what Rock Band for Wii was going to be I cried a little. Even so, I was almost to the point of buying it out of desperation when I listened to the IGN GameScoop podcast last week and they mentioned a deluge of GH:WT info this week so I crossed my fingers and waited. They delivered. GH:WT is going to good to Wii owners. I'm happy in the pants :)

I read through all 4 pages, and this doesn't at all seem like it could be done on the Wii. Unless they have the worst graphics in existence but even then, the music creator seems too complex for this game. I love the Wii, I have one, but this doesn't seem like it's possible on the little white box.

Seems like I'm gonna be needing an Xbox 360 really soon. Lots of games I want on the system alrady, and this just helped me want one even more. They're not gonna say it yet, but as the game gets deeper into the development cycle, watch as more and more features get "tweaked" to accommodate for the Wii's weak points.

ahh what the hell!?

this game looks great and all but we need how many wii remotes to play?! it looks like to have the full 4 player experience youre going to need 4 remotes....son of a bitch!

why couldnt they just add a usb hub like they did with rockband?

It appears they haven't changed the controller at all to actually reflect what it is like to play a guitar. 5 buttons in a row means the game still gets a fail from me. To really impress me they need to have 2 rows of buttons. Then you can do proper chording.
