Some places are saying that next week is also a couple of new Weezer songs from their new album. True?

Awesome. I'm not sure how I feel about the price still, though. There's a lot of tracks, but per Pixies standard, they're mostly super short.

As for Weezer, I'd much rather they'd just put out the entirety of Pinkerton already... but I guess it's a start.

I think most of all I just want an option to play full albums or make custom set lists. Buying these albums and then having to pick every track individually is stupid.

I'm definitely ecstatic about Doolittle, but why did it have to be new Weezer? Just release something from Pinkerton or the Blue Album...everything Weezer has done since Pinkerton has been garbage...particularly this new album. A few tracks on Maladroit were listenable, Green was too safe and radio-friendly, and Make Believe was, like Red, pure and utter trash.

Sorry Brandom, but I totally disagree. The "new" Weezer is in-freakin-credible, a-freakin-mazing and kick-freakin-ass.

There are two types of Weezer fans, the type that enjoy everything Weezer has done, and the others who are two stuck up to realize the stuff they did after Pinkerton is actually good. Well, most of it.

Or those who just genuinely don't enjoy anything after the Green album (which isn't as good as the first two). It's not hard to imagine. A few good songs doesn't make a great album.

Although I have to imagine most of them haven't really given the new one much of a shot considering their waning interest in the band. I hated Make Believe, so I wasn't in a rush to listen to this one honestly.

It's going to take a while for people in that situation to bother to listen to the new one objectively.

Well, I won't be a jerk and tell you you're wrong or anything, you're entitled to your opinion of course. However, even if you do like the new stuff, you still have to admit that it isn't Weezer anymore. I'm all for bands evolving their sound, I mean, my favorite band of all time is The Smashing Pumpkins, who continuously evolve their sound from album to album, while still keeping the critical elements that contribute heavily to their appeal...but what Weezer has done with their last 2 albums completely abandons what made all of their long-time fans love them in the first place. As I said, there are a few tracks on Maladroit that I think are brilliant, but between the 2 latest albums, I can't seem to find one song I actually enjoy, which is a shame, because Weezer was one of my favorite bands for so long, and I still listen to their first 2 albums constantly, I just wish that band would come back, because although you like their new direction, surely you can see what I mean here, it just isn't the same Weezer we all fell in love with 14 years ago. As I see it, they have 2 strikes on them now. I'll give them one more chance, and listen to their next album with an optimistic attitude, but if I'm as disappointed as I was by this one, I don't think I will have any more second chances left for them.

I soooo can't wait till Tuesday. I want that Weezer pack! Personally, I'd prefer to substitute Dreamin' for an order of Pork and Beans but I think I can survive with Dreamin'.

I'd have to agree with Brandon. Instead of evolving weezer has been devolving. I think the departure of Matt Sharp hurt them just as much as rivers breakdown.

As for Weezer, this is all that has to be said: http://www.somethingawful.com/d/garbage-day/weezer-greatest-man.php

I, eh, I don't agree. This song feels like, to me, the worst use of
irony - justifying a goofy premise with a poor execution, because
hey, they know it's bad so it's alright. You've got lyrics about how
manly and great they are, but hey, it's Weezer, we all know it's
ironic and therefore OK. Also, the lyrics are really bad ('you got
the hots to ride on my plane?') so people who don't really know
Weezer can get in on the joke, that it's ironic. Then, you've got a
mishmash of different musical parts, complete with bad clichés like
sirens, choral arrangement, atonal shouting, and a monologue, all
without any underlying cohesion. The whole thing is a monument to
smarm and ironic indie posturing. It's a joke where the comedy is
supposed to come from the fact that the execution is as poor as the
premise deserves.

If you have a burning desire to listen to joke music, why not get
Tenacious D's first album? The joke there is that the execution is
much better than the goofy premise deserves, which makes for, you
know, listenable music. Or maybe you'd like Tiger Woods by Dan Bern
(free stream, slightly NSFW PG-13 lyrical content): http://www.last.fm/music/Dan+Bern/_/Tiger+Woods
