Haha. I had to sit through the whole damn video for that, but it was worth it.

I picked this up being a fan of the show. Very much a sim as you have to drop and pick up the crab pots in real-time...thankfully there is fast-time for travelling.

Looks nice, like the show, but it just seems too damn boring to me.

I also agree. It's not my kind of game but way better than I could ever imagine it would be. The sim approach is much better than the weird mini games i thought they might try to push off on the unknowing fans of the show.
Also the crab effects were spot on realistic.

I hear if you go out far enough you get a glimpse of a mysterious oil tanker somewhere out in the mid-Atlantic surrounded by cargo ships marked "PRETZEL FLIPS" and "STEED".

I doubt you can go to the atlantic. The whole point of the show is alaskan fishing. Bering sea. Pacific ocean... maybe. The atlantic is a bajillion miles away.

(its prodably a great podcast, but ive got way to many subscribed now. maybe I should delete some shows and subscribe.)
but still, the show/game is about the Bering Sea... and i guess im ignorant one?

Looks like a SegaCD game. Live-action video at a 1/4 of the screen size.

I take my last comment back. Just watched the second video.
The boat-driving-sim aspect looks like it could be entertaining for some people.
I'm guessing that the developers will not emphasize the driving/navigation parts enough though.
I predict a score between 62-75/100

Actually, I think Joystiq called it.
All you did was write a pretty obvious comment about a game that everybody already knew was being made.

They better not retail it at full price. And I was expecting a little bit more storms.
Anyways, I can't find the massive damage weak spots on those giant enemy crabs.

God, this makes me think of the NES game Space Shuttle Project, in which the very exciting concept of SPACE FLIGHT was reduced to a series of mindless mini-games. How much more boring can you make CRAB FISHING?

Being quite familiar with the show, I can safely say that this is a terrible idea for a game. Unfortunately I will have to try very hard to resist it, as I have a giant man-crush on Edgar.

MGS4 killer right here folks.
GOTY
Now if they can only bring Ice Road Truckers to the next gen.
Jokes aside, the shows are great, but I think the demographic for the games are inbred trailer trash.

+1 for innovation and graphics
-1 for my interest level being sustained
-1 for crabs graphics
+1 for immersive atmosphere
Looks like a nice game, although its not exactly my cup of tea, reminds me ship simulator. Do they have stormy weather effects by any chance? With waves te size of houses etc, otherwise the name woukdn't go down well considering the TV series has them going on extremely dangerous voyages to get crabs and fish.

I love the show; I am from a fishing town, can relate quite well to the people. I will pick-up the game when it sells for $30, looks decent.
