Here it is, Call of Duty: World at War debut trailer
59
You've known about it for a while, you've been teased and now it's finally here. Debuting on the Xbox Live Marketplace earlier this morning and now available for internet viewing is the first look debut trailer for the upcoming Call of Duty: World at War. We'll let the trailer speak for itself, but be on the lookout for a few of barbecued bodies, body knifing, tree climbing and the occasional man who is on fire. Give the trailer a watch and tell us if you think World at War can reach the same level greatness Infinity Ward achieved with CoD4.

I must admit, that looks very good. I despise world war 2 games but this has now sparked my interest, purely because it looks to be as action packed as COD4s campaign, a longer version of that and I'm sold.
This could be the first world war 2 game i ever buy. :P

Yep, it looks like another WWII shooter. As someone who appreciates the quality of COD4, let's not get all flustered and excited over a collage of pre-rendered cutscenes.

Thanks for stating the obvious about it being set in WWII and that's quite clearly the in game engine, not pre-rendered.

The trailer has actually made me less sure about this. It was a definate buy for me, I preordered it weeks ago, but after the trailer I am unsure whether it is any good.

Pretty short video for all the hype. I agree with just cutscenes that are potentially over rendered. The Pacific theater is the one that gets overlooked by most of history. From a game standpoint I am sure we will get plenty of more hypescreens to draw our conclusions.

Trailer was nice. Sort of reminded me of the Battlefield series. Looks like the trailer was only single player. Will there be controllable vehicles in this one?

I really don't know. Considering Treyarch's record, I can't expect them to bring anything new to the PC world (which has higher demands with patches and compatibility with drivers and all that stuff). Hope they don't contract Punkbuster AGAIN because besides the fact that PB is worse than StarForce for PCs it just plain doesn't work - any one who's played COD4 online on the PC knows this (and yet, I'm still going to be chewed out for this just like I was chewed out for suggesting no PB for COD4 PC).
Still very much a work in progress though - for the 360 version at least, it could be good, the trailer is rather inconclusive at showing the potential quality of the game.

Every Battlefield game on the pc uses PB as well. Are you sure theres nothing wrong with your pc. I been playing with PB since 1942... no problems. If your modding your ini for widescreen support thats your problem. Or if you using cracked no cd exe, there is a solution for that too. Buy the game. BTW u dont need a cd for cod4mp.exe to run.

uhmmmm.... did I mention Battlefield? PB is still broken, just google PB problems and I'm sure you'll find something. For the items you mention, a) I should be able to run BF or any game in widescreen and b) I should be able to run a no-cd exe if I wish. I bought the game and I don't like rummaging through all the shit on my desk to find my scratched-up CD, besides, no-cd exes and their ilk help the game load faster because it skips the slow optical drive requests.
I also didn't say that you needed a CD for COD4 online (yay IW!), but that doesn't reflect on PB at all. Point in case is really just to hop into a nice big server running PB and look at the number of hackers in any given PB server - most of the time it's pretty obvious. PB's job is to make games cheater-free and it fails at that.

Gee... it looks like COD1,2, and 3.
More of the same uncreative bullshit from Treyarch.
The only thing this game trailer is missing is a point where it always freezes up, just like the games.

Color me skeptical. COD3 blew and MOH did the Pacific campaign. The whole clip looks like cut scenes to me too. I did like the guy climbing the tree. That would add a nice twist.

I hate trailers like these because if they're as uncreative as this they don't sway my opinion either way. I'm still very skeptical about buying a Treyarch "game". Guess I have to wait for a gameplay trailer.

Another WW2 shooter, what a disappointment. Did anyone bother telling Treyarch this genre jumped the shark the last time they did it with COD3? Even Dice knows...

COD4 wasn't even good! Online was great, but the singleplayer was awful...

I agree, I hated everything being scripted and the campaign levels being so incredibly linear. Having to wait for my stupid AI teammates to come and open each door was really annoying.

I don't know why there's so much hate on Treyarch. COD3 wasn't a bad game considering they had just one year to complete it. (They have two years for this one by the way) I enjoyed the single player of it more than I did COD2 is some regards. I'll admit it wasn't as polished or balanced as the other games, but it certainly wasn't bad by any sense of the word.
This game looks promising, as it's taking the COD franchise to Japan where they haven't gone before. I'd probably prefer modern combat again, but at least we aren't tooth and nail against the Germans once again. Yeah, other games have done Japan before but other war games don't have the same vibe as the COD series has. And judging from COD3, Treyarch has what it takes to maintain that feeling.

Looks good, I'll actually consider buying this now. After seeing more trailers of course. I'm still not to fond of WWII era guns.

Looking forward to this, looks like it could be an interesting single player experience. It looks like it was the in game engine rather than pre-rendered footage, but who knows. I was crossing my fingers for a Vietnam-based game when I first heard they were putting out a sequel, but maybe Infinity Ward is looking to do that.

The trailer was a letdown. The character animations look a bit too 2003 and if the flamethrower is the only weapon that's truly new, this is looking more and more like an epic fail. It's a damn shame.
Infinity Ward, please get cracking on COD6 for next fall. Thanks.

It'll actually be COD 5 I think. Since this one isn't numbered ala GTA-style.

i think people are forgetting the supposed 4player co-op through the campaign game. That alone is enough to give this a look.. as how great would those intense set pieces, be that have always set the cod series apart from the rest, shared with 3 other friends.

I'll wait to see more actual gameplay footage before I become interested to the point of setting money aside.
I've been saying that IW should use the COD4 engine and make a good Predator game. With that said, at least COD:WAW is in a jungle..

I don't care how good this game ends up being. I have long loathed the CoD franchise for being WW2 after WW2 game. When CoD4 came out. I bought it on launch day and I loved it.
CoD5 will never make its way into my house. Seriously, another WW2 game?!?!?!?! As long as people continue to buy these, they will continue to try to cash out on the same story over and over again.

WWII is just a setting. As far as I'm concerned, the COD style game-play would work in any point in history where there were guns.
I'm looking forward to what they did with this story because it seems to be going down the "horrors of war" route with the story.
All that being said - I highly doubt they will even come close to matching COD 4 in multiplayer. The weapons just don't allow for it in my opinion. I would prefer to see it as a single player only game (beside co op). But we'll see I guess.

As long as this plays as smoothly (although not shown in this trailer) as COD 4 I'm freakin' sold. The engine is the same or maybe even an updated version of that of COD 4 so it looks sweet, and that flamethrower should do some nice damage. There's only one thing I am afraid of...having shitty voice acting like COD 3, although in the trailer it's ok...We'll wait and see, I have hopes so far. Oh what awful voiceacting in Alone in the Darking, fucking Atari are retards.
