Two Worlds publisher obtains $12.9m in funding

SouthPeak Games, publisher of Two Worlds as well as the uber-cute DS title Ninjatown, has secured an impressive $12.9 million in private funding. As reported by VC blog VentureBeat's Dean Takahashi, the financing is particularly interesting given that most investments of this sort are directed at the online games, virtual worlds or social networks, rather than the more traditional console and PC game space that SouthPeak calls home.

The company will have no shortage of projects on which to blow its newfound cash, with a number of other titles on deck including XBLA puzzler Roogoo, Monster Madness: Grave Danger for the PS3, and The Temptation, which is totally not-an-expansion to Two Worlds. With multiple sequels planned, Takahashi also notes that the pub sees last year's Xbox 360 and PC RPG as its biggest success to date, though it's a sentiment obviously measured in something other than review scores.

If the creative geniuses behind Two Worlds can get $12.9m in funding, this pretty much means I can take a dump on a spindle of DVDs and somebody will fund me!

I can't believe you pulled a "Wont somebody think of the children!!" comment here.

Anyway, 2 words was a 5/10 game at metacritic, and really wasn't as bad as people said. It had issues, but the reason it was reviewed so low was because it came on the tail of Oblivion, which was a much better game in every way.

Give this company a chance. They fucked up on Two Worlds but stated they made a mistake and will do better on the next one. Its not like you guy ever screwed something up and someone gave you a second chance you one sided retards.

Let's face it, they need it. Two Worlds was poop in every way from the voice acting to the combat. Why not give $12.9m to Bethesda? I mean, Oblivion is clearly a better game.

Two Worlds is quite possibly the worst game I have played since the 1980's. On message boards you can tell the people who bought and are trying to justify their purchase of a bad game and are like "Oh, you have to play a few hours in then it gets cool."

No, you play a few hours in and that is a few more hours you played a craptastic game.

TERRIBLE game.
