Call of Duty: World at War is 'next-gen only baby!'

b = Call of Duty: World at War for Wii
c = Call of Duty: World at War for PlayStation 2

Proof
If a=b, and variations of c have been known to equal corresponding variations of b, then does a=c?

... Yes? Well, the problem is c doesn't exist. Call of Duty: World at War will be "next-gen only baby!" Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia confirmed with Joystiq, correcting an earlier report that the game would mark a return of the series on PS2; the first since Treyarch's Call of Duty 3. Despite claims that World at War is "not a different game on Wii" (with, um, a few exceptions) -- and therefore, wouldn't be all that different of a game on PS2 -- Activision and Treyarch have apparently retired PS2 from duty ... for good.

I'm just a little perturbed that they keep bouncing the time periods around. 1-3 were ww2, then came cod4 which was modern times, now with 5, we're back to ww2. make up your friggin minds already. I bet 6 will be set in some far away galaxy.

yes i've seen the trailers and while it looks good, its not enough to make me waste money on a console (if its like cod3 where it was only console)

2) It's not even coming out anytime soon.

Seconded. I saw this story in my RSS feed and logged on to say the exact same thing. Enough with this game already! (we all know it'll be slightly disappointing anyway) :)

It's a shame that none of you guys recognize the fact that Treyarch had only eight months to develop COD3. This game is looking pretty nice, and yet we still have people refusing to give Treyarch the BOTD, for reasons I don't quite understand.

The world of gaming is a lot more _complex_ than I initially thought

I wonder if the Wii's success despite lower power has actually afforded the PS2 more games opportunities. That is to say, many games might completely ignore the PS2 if they weren't already downscaling for the Wii anyway.

It's quite possible that Bad Company, Guitar Hero 3, Spore, etc. would all ignore the PS2 if the Wii wasn't forcing them to expand boundaries.

From what i recall, Wii is the only console they intend to bring Spore to at this time

Which could always change, but its the only console mentioned so far

I thought they wanted to bring Spore to all platforms, but each game would be differently tailored to suit that console's strengths? i.e. Spore Creatures for DS is completely different from PC Spore.

Current Generation Console =/= how powerfull the graphics are

I hope someone from Joystiq reads these comments and realises everyone begrudges Treyarch enough for giving us what is likely to be second rate crap after the masterful COD of 07 and as a result no one gives a shit about World at Wank or whatever.

Please stop posting about World at Whatever Joystiq look to me like they need to tighten the graphics on level 3.

Treyarch had eight months to develop Call of Duty 4, so yeah, it ended up a pretty lame game. This game not only looks and sounds good, but has plenty of time to be developed... why don't some of you guys at least wait until the game is out to condemn it?

I don't mind all the codwaw news. It's one of my most anticipated games.

Sure it's coming to the PC? I mean it's technically not much different from the 360 version, just with higher resolution and anti-aliasing etc; but CoD3 never came to the PC..

And look how it failed, while CoD4 was awesome. Coincidence? I think not.

If a PS2 is less powerful than a Gamecube, and a Wii is more powerful than a gamecube (even if but ever so slightly), then I welcome this move. Theoretically Wii and PS2 shouldn't be able to share titles...

At least it's coming to PC this time...
