Life aboard the Ishimura is rough. The food is lousy, the company's worse, and the endless screams make it just impossible to get a good night's sleep. While some might deal with these issues by writing a letter or turning to pills, spaceship engineer Isaac Clarke, the protagonist in EA's Dead Space, has decided to take care of things his own way -- by cutting anything in his path to ribbons.
EA has released this new gameplay video demonstrating Clarke's unique way of getting things done using a method referred to by Dead Space executive producer, Glen Schofield, as "strategic dismemberment." It's a fancy term for taking enemies apart "limb by limb." As Clarke slices and dices the Ishimura's resident nasties, called Necromorphs, Schofield notes that they will continue to fight back in true Ninja Gaiden II style, sometimes requiring more creative weapons like the stasis or telekinesis guns. Dead Space is shaping up to be one of this Fall's more interesting releases -- we're looking forward to gutting our way through Necromorph hordes this Halloween.

I had absolutely zero interest in this until I watched those animated comics. Now, I really want to see how this game turns out.

Hopefully this gameplay mechanic turns into something more than an aim-for-the-legs-first strategy.

Ummmm, one word.....COOL!
Totally like that things are ever changing and as soon as you think you know what's up, you will get you @ss handed to you by a new enemy. That will keep my on my toes better than the no gun and flashlight (Doom 3).

That actually looks pretty damn good. I gotta say, EA is trying damn hard to get our money. So far for me, it's working.

looking forward to this one personally, reckon i'll get it for the PC too and crank the graphics and sound up to 11, my PS3 is getting much love at the moment and the graphics are very good indeed (ratchet and clank tools of destruction is like playing a Pixar animation) and it looks great on a 40'' HDTV, but I reckon this on a 30'' dell at 2560x1600 with a 7.1 sound system will be a better experience, now all i have to do is find the time to play it when released...

Cheers to a new game mechanic. If they can manage to make it sound as strategic and fluid as they'll have us believe, they should have a fun game on their hands. Execution will be the deciding factor.
