I hope this game tanks so that Activision learns to stop milking the franchise.

As long as they stop AFTER guitar hero metallica :P

Then again, if GH Metallica's track list is as bad as this one I probably won't even bother. I can already see Activision using 3/4 of the track list on shit from Load, Reload, and St. Anger >:(

tmac, I'm curious...

How did you reach that assumption? After all, the issue here with the Aerosmith version is it focuses far too heavily on the early stuff and practically all the recent stuff is missing. How do you think Metallica's version will somehow be the opposite.

because it's activision. They'll put just enough old stuff in to satisfy a few people, but leave a ton of great stuff out for GH4, 5, 6, 15 etc. A lot of aerosmith's bigger hits are missing from this list, but they gave juuust enough to satisfy some people.

I'd rather just wait for all the metallica songs coming for Rock Band. They have 18+ tracks lined up.

Check please.

I have literally zero interest in this. Not even She Sells Sanctuary can redeem it. It's just so blase; Aerosmith doesn't have that borderline universal appeal that was needed from a band to sell this.

This may have had better appeal if they actually included their top 40 hits. They left out 13 of Aerosmith's 21 top 40 singles.

Ok, but then you just have _more popular_ Aerosmith songs. This doesn't eliminate the main problem: you have predominantly Aerosmith songs. The target market of this game isn't a group of 44 year old foundry workers who subside off Skoal Bandits and PBR. There needs to be wider variety in order to make money. Themed song games are fine, like "rock", but when you restrict the content, you restrict the market.

Yep...all that Aerosmith mean I won't be bothering with this. They are a completely overrated shit band with a bunch of shit songs that I have no interest in paying money for. Those hacks won't be getting any of my money.

How in the hell is Dream On a Tier 5 song?

The DLC version in GH3 was a joke and it's considered Tier 5 in this...?!

It says it's re-recorded, so there's probably some finger burning guitar solo been added somewhere along the line to make it less boring.

It's the same version that was in GH3, which was the rerecorded version so it's still ridiculously easy.

I am a huge Aerosmith fan, but some one, 24 complete Aerosmith Songs in a game that was suppose to be all aerosmith... AWFUL. I wont buy this at all, might not even rent it... They left off so much good stuff, what a shame

The only thing that partially redeems this game so that non-Aerosmith groupies would buy it is the addition of additional artists.

I feel the opposite as you - the game would look better if there was more non-aero and then the bosses and such was where Aerosmith was pushed. Playing mostly their songs would get boring real quick.

You're complaining about the lack of "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing"? Really? That would be a horrible song for Guitar Hero!

btw, any news on Guitar Hero:Queen?

Sex Type Thing is pretty overcharted, so is Hard to Handle but that's the cover's fault (they got the same guy from GH3 who did TDWDTG and We Three Kings, and he threw in some more crazy stuff for the hell of it).

Train Kept a Rollin' looks like an overchart, but after looking at the guitar tabs (and more importantly, talking to my friend how can actually understand tabs), it's actually dead-on. And holy crap is it a hard song.

And yet 41 DLC songs on Rock Band would cost about $80-$90, depending on how many single songs you get.

Makes ya think, don't it?

You're right in a sense, but with DLC you can pick and choose what songs you want. You can't do that with disc versions.

I would also say that with DLC it's then all nicely contained within one game. If one were to buy all these songs as DLC, you could hop between Train Kept A Rollin' and Cliffs of Dover, then back to some other Aerosmith nonsense.

Nice try OldKingCole, but as mentioned, the DLC I buy is going to be stuff I really want, plus you can play it 4 ways, and you don't have to buy it in 3 packs like Guitar Hero... so all it makes me think is "thank god for Rock Band".

With DLC:

1. You get to buy what you want and are not forced into anything

2. Sales can occur, so you get songs for half-price (or free) - witness the recent McDonalds promotion

3. It works across multiple Rock Band games

Makes me think? It sure does...makes me think that between GH's overpriced and lackluster DLC and their crappy cash-in games like this, I'll never buy another Activision/Neversoft music game again.
