[cough] Lagging on-line play [cough] on-line and off-line slowdown [cough] locked to a single user's email address for on-line play [cough] the same game as for the last 4 years...
This year I'll be waiting for the reviews to come out before I place any pre-orders. Last year's 'effort' was a disgrace!

I wish they would release worldwide at the same time. I waited an extra 6 months for pes to release in the U.S. last time and there were no improvements to in. in fact, they didn't even update the rosters. the psp and ps2 versions were perfect though. the 360 and ps3 versions sucked beyond recognition. hopefully 2009 will be as great the the previous ones. This is a must import for me. (Hopefully Boca Juniors and the english league will be licenced).

You're more likely to see Hull City win a 2nd season in the Premier League!

I really hope they do right by the franchise this time around, cause 2008 was garbage.....it really shouldn't have left the building. (re: the ps3 version)

All I can say is Konami better fix the piss poor graphics first and foremost. The horrible field texture, slowdown, and just overall ugliness really really hurt PES2008. All I want is polished and worthy of the PES name offline play. Once that is sorted out, then they can work on online.

More stadiums
Better graphics
Better editing facilities (a must)
Playability (game engine from either 5 or 6)
Commentary (I swear the same shite is being reused every year)

PES2008 was shockingly bad on the PS3, I bought it without thinking as they are usually ace. I will be more careful with this, perhaps it's time to switch back to Fifa.....

If you compare the N.American release to the other nations, We got shafted. The south Americans had the ability to create/edit stadiums. Europe had a better team editing system. If we get shafted one more year I am done with the franchise its off to Fifa 09. Sorry Konami but to give us the worst release out of all regions, felt like I got stab in my back. Please fix it cause I don't want EA to rule the world of sports. Thanks

I havent bought a fifia game since '95. If konami dont get their act together for this game then screw them.

Not just is online unplayable, even normal mode skips and pauses with that laggy crap. I hope they knew how terrible their last game was, especially on the ps3. Ill try before i buy this time, and Fifa get ready...so far they're the only company who has sort of moved next-gen on their football game.

Did someone say Pro Evo? I love the series but last year's game was a disgrace. I pray they can up the ante on the graphics to a real next gen level and change the gameplay back to pro evo 5 as that was the real essence of soccer simulation. The screenshots look good though because the palyers don't look fat. Please Konami get it right this time.

They better make pro evo 2009 better as 2008 was just awful due to weak graphics and terrible slowdown. The edit mode was awful also and the game was too easy for me i could still win games in the master league 5-0 no problem. They need the control system of of pro evo 6 on the ps2 which i rate as the best in the series.I hope reviews are honest also not like IGN giving it and undeserving 9 out of 10,Obviously due to them having an advert in the game.Because i like many others bought it on day of release as it`s normaly good and found myself really disappointed by last years effort.

ok guys, i'm looking at all these bad comments from you but i know that deep down inside u love PES, you know u won't ever give it up, u know u won't be able to play FIFA for more than a hour without getting pissed off because the gameplay sucks so bad. be patient my young skywalkers. KONAMI is working on those issues we have so we will all be a big happy family again. and for those who doesnt like the wait for the game to come to the states, you can always order it on ebay from england or so.
anyways, here's a few things i'd like to see in the future of PES:
1. Improved Master League. ML is the bread and butter of PES, so they need to make it much more interesting than what it is now. I can never settle with the same team for more than 5 years anymore, i just get bored and have to change the team after years and years of same drill, it just got old. I want to see a morale meter for all the players in ur team, if a player is not happy(based on the salary or team performance), then he will want to leave, this way it's more realistic and force u to change up ur team so often. Also, a better negotiation system. 2 for 1(player) trades, reason for declined negotiation. Better team building, for example: design ur own plays, finace(accepting sponsor offers from different companies and then u can decide where to place their commercial sign in the stadium). Design ur own fan's banner (what the hell is "who ate all the pie?" anyways??) and better hidden players, instead of bunch fictional players, how about put some real live young potentials in the hidden player list? Simulate games, sometimes u r champion already with 10 more games left to play, and those games just dont matter, so come on, let us simulate it and move to the new season! and lastly, bring the training mode back in the master league, you want to see how well ur players progressed and how well they work together, alone with training matches so u can use ur starting 11 to play against ur subs.
2. downloadable content: rosters, transfers, player ratings, player appearences and maybe licences alone the way. this way we won't have to spend hours and hours editing before we play the game.
3. Upload our own music, im suck of listening all the weird songs in the game, seriously.
4. More moves and better long-pass controls. and free-kicks, ever noticed that when u r playing against a team in top-player mode, a player with free-kick skill rated 70 can put 80% of free kicks into ur goal from every angle? that's just not realistic.
5. A coach mode and a Player Mode. in Coach mode u will take over a team and play the game just like it is in ML, but alone the way depending on ur performance u will get sacked or receive new offeres from different clubs, this will benifit players who have a hard time stay with the same team forever. IN the player mode you will take control of just one player (choose from any team or create ur own player), just like the new "be a pro" from FIFA, and you can make decisions for this player, either sign new contract, apply for transfer, change teams, change position, change number, ask for a raise, retire... let's see how ur carreer will end up.
there are so many more things i could just keep on going about, but i think i've included most of the important ones, take a look, and tell me if u don't want to see all these in a game.

I Would like to see: you can decide how big the tape around the enkles of the players is. you have to be kidding me with those tiny strings of tape;)
and the computer teams have to be more unpredictable. I'll never see the star player of your opponent doing a fenomenale individual action.!!!
I also want the goal celebratings less static, a little bit realistic please. they need to move natural, people do not make turns of 90 degrees when they are running

In short, if pes had the licences and in game features fifa had, and the game play was tougher then it would make it a more enjoyable game.

For me PES needs;
1. More clubs/international teams
2. Licencing
3. Tougher gameplay
4. Realism on Masters League, when losing the sack should be coming, unsettled players, career threatening injuries, dealing with chairman/media etc.
5. Better in game music.

For me graphics is secondary, and to be fair to PES the players they have look more realistic for me than FIFA, Rooney on FIFA looks like Father Christmas! mind you!....

Who cares if the grass looks a bit weird or Jon Champion and Mark Lawrenson are reading the same lines as Peter Brackley and Trevor Brooking did on PES 2; lets just hope PES 2009 is a better in game experience, which learns from FIFA, AND tries to create new elements as well.

i truly dont care about online mode. and the graphics yes they need improving but it aint that much of a big deal. its just the gameplay is the most important thing. like when u do the 'seel' header where you head it upwards. or the fact that strength and speed barely count. unlicnsed leagues and it needs to be updated transfers. the fact that when you shoot on the turn it randomly goes over. and volleying and again HEADING need to be vastly imporved or im buying fifa from now on.

pes 2009 really needs to be better than the '08 one.
The graphics were fine and everything, but there is so much good stuff that was on the editing part on pes 6 that wasn't on the 2008 version. the games are meant to be getting better not worse, add to them not get rid of stuff. Like you couldn't change hairstyles of players or stuff like that, I understand that the actual playing matches part is the main point of the game, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes to edit parts of the players or boots etc
please make it a good =D
