Sure, it looks nice, especially for a Wii game, what with all the fancy lightsaber effects and stylized character models. But it's just not the game we want. Here's hoping that the game will still scratch some itch, even if we don't know we have it yet.

GL is co-writer & executive producer. He has always been quite involved in the EU, major details he doesn't directly write still have to go by him.

I was hoping for a Star Wars Wii game to play like Jedi Academy with awesome lightsaber waggling. I'm sad.

You just can't DO 1:1 lightsaber duels, the wiimote isn't going to stop itself when your saber hits another, or offer any resistance when it cuts through something else. If they gave it to you, you'd hate it.

Its not just about hitting things why it cant be done, the accelerometers cant tell where they are in 3d space only relative motion. You will never have a fast paced 1:1 sword battle game beacuse the tech in the Wiimote CANT do it.
You could do a fancing style game where you always return to set 'ready' postiion, then hold down the z button before making a strike, but even that would be unweildy.
Waggle sucks, it sucked 10 years ago on the PC and its sucks today.

Fair point.
You could maybe do lightsabers, but only against soft, fleshy beings that could be easily diced. (like babies or republicans)
Against anything that would stop the blade (like another lightsaber) it wouldn't work 1:1.
Still, I can't help but wish for a Wiimote controlled version of Jedi Knight.*
*obviously not Outcast or Academy as they were after Lucasarts fell to the Average Side.

I am glad that the game industry is not run by you three. Stop dissing the wiimote for your lack of imagination. You know how games right now have "attack" buttons? So in a 1:1 game, you press the attack button, and the sword starts following your movement. If you hit something solid, it either waits for you to move the remote back or kicks you out of attack mode and waits for the next button press.
Heck, it could even just use the pointer to track where you are swinging the sword.

who was dissing the wiimote? its great for what it does... but there is no way it can emulated physically being blocked.
I'm glad you have the superior immagination, but the systems you proposed sounds hugely confusing and complicated... you'd end up totally out of sync with the movements on screen.
Still, if a dev can pull it off somehow i'll be happy... but the reason devs aren't doing 1:1 sword action isn't the wiimote, its the handling of impacts...

Based on the cartoon network mini-series right?
I just hope it isn't a fighting game because that would suck. Something like a platform game would be better.
Well it seems General Grievous will continue as a lame villain.

Yeah, but the movie trailers look horrible.
That said, the original Clone Wars cartoons were the only good thing about the prequel trilogy.

Grievous was a cool villain in the cartoons, it was just in the movie that he sucked.
Come to think of it though, the Jedi were cool in the cartoon too...

The Wii should really have more exageratted, cartoony games since that graphics style isn't as much of a burden on the hardware and can still look pretty awesome. Battlefield Heroes is supposed to be able to run on intergrated graphics chips in laptops and it looks great. The other plus for cartoony graphics is that a game like Teamfortress 2 will be timeless; it won't look outdated by the time a new graphcis card has been released.

Anyone else find that comments keep disappearing on Joystiq recently?
Several times I've posted and no post has appeared. But then about 3-4 minutes later its appeared. But then on refresh it disappears again. Then its back.
this time i posted and suddenly about the last 5 posts (by anyone) are gone. Wonder if they'll come back again soon...

Good, so it hasn't just been me. What'll happen is i'll post, and it won't appear, even if i refresh the page a couple times. The post will appear about five minutes later or so. But occasionally a whole set of posts will disappear, if i read an article on the main page that says "19 comments," then i come inside and it says "14 comments," and that's exactly how many there are

They could put out a game with an eighth of the polish of this one and if it used the wiimote to track lightsaber movements and was similar to the dueling portions of Star Wars Arcade I would cut off my right leg to have it. But this game looks like ever other star wars platformer that let you control a Jedi with the addition of wondrous, super innovative WAGGLE!!

It looks good enough; I think the new Clone Wars style of animation will lend itself well to the graphics capabilities of the Wii, but I am going to reserve judgment until I get a video of someone actually playing it and describing the controls.
