DICE currently working on 5 Battlefield games
Though gravelly voiced soldiers are always keen to point out the many ways in which war has changed, it certainly hasn't ceased being profitable, least of all in the realm of video games. DICE, developer of EA's popular Battlefield franchise, has confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz that it currently has five related titles in development. Executive producer for DICE, Ben Cousins, was quite right when he said that's "more than you expect."
With Battlefield: Bad Company out this week and the free-to-play Battlefield: Heroes already impressing industry pundits, we're left speculating about three (maybe more?) additional titles. According to Cousin's comments made at GDC Paris, one will be a traditional game for consoles, while another will be a joint effort with Neowiz, aimed at Korea. As for the third title? We're predicting Battlefield: Field of Battle, a turn-based card game for the iPhone. What say you?

I kinda like the graphical style of the free Battlefield game, but I can't help but think it looks a lot like Team Fortress 2, minus the soul and character.
Mr.ESC @ Jun 24th 2008 1:23PM
Bu..but it is phree!!
You are right but I'm still giving it a chance.

And I can't help but think Team Fortress 2 looks like The Incredibles and Batman: The Animated Series... point?
x silence x @ Jun 24th 2008 1:50PM
Has anyone seen the Incredibles?
TF2 was not the 1st to use that art style...
Jakka @ Jun 24th 2008 1:56PM
I am sick of these motherfucking pyros on my motherfucking game so I'll probably check this out.
Marty @ Jun 24th 2008 4:54PM
Apples to oranges, Fidlious.

TF2 is the first game to succcessfully go cartoon-style basically. It's not fair to compare to a TV show/movie especially when the subject matters are completely different. It's just unfortunate for BF: Heroes that both came up with the idea independently but one beat the other to the (free) market. I'll give it a shot but doubt it will have the support, community maps, etc. that TF2 does.
GenBanks @ Jun 24th 2008 7:39PM
Fidlious, not really. If Heroes had come out on its own we wouldn't be comparing it to Incredibles. It has a lot more resemblances to TF2 than Incredibles.
Plus, TF2 is very different from incredibles, it just looks like a pixar movie. You should see the confused looks I get from people when I say it 'looks like Incredibles'... That's how I've realised it's very different.

PojoMofo @ Jun 24th 2008 3:23PM
PRETTY PLEASE!!!!!
BF2 was the sh!t, 2142 was not a worthy sucessor to BF2.
GenBanks @ Jun 24th 2008 7:41PM
I agree :(
Actually, I'd even be satisfied with a PC port of Bad Company. Some PC love (other than heroes) please!
Lijik @ Jun 24th 2008 1:11PM
If the Korea-aimed title uses the BFH art style, then I'm all over it.
NATO_Duke @ Jun 24th 2008 1:20PM
'Battlefield: Battlefields' confirmed?
riggs @ Jun 24th 2008 1:30PM

Mr.ESC @ Jun 24th 2008 1:22PM
"a joint effort with Neowiz, aimed at Korea".
Battlefield MMO confirmed?
"a turn-based card game for the iPhone".
Make it for the PSP or Ds and it is a buy.
potato @ Jun 24th 2008 1:23PM
Battlefield 1914! Experience the pure adrenal thrill of camping in filthy, disease-ridden trenches for weeks on end, only to run across no-man's land and get mercilessly gunned down in a matter of seconds!
Survived the rush? No worries, you'll be dead of disease soon!
I predict gangbuster sales.
Edog Lost @ Jun 24th 2008 1:27PM
I just want Mirrors Edge.
Xoviet chiK @ Jun 24th 2008 1:39PM
Seconded.
Looks bloody brilliant!
Jawmuncher @ Jun 24th 2008 1:36PM
One of those games needs to be Battlefield with Dinosaurs.
tc @ Jun 24th 2008 2:15PM

ImelinCain @ Jun 25th 2008 9:27AM
Battlefield: Exhausted Genre
for the 360 and PS3.
You play as a young, plucky American soldier that follows your platoon through the harrowing .
Burnt Meatloaf @ Jun 25th 2008 4:15AM
I was hoping for more pinball games.
Mike @ Jun 25th 2008 10:32AM
I hope they are working on their crappy activation. After 2142, I would be seriously hard pressed to buy anymore of their crap. BF2 was OK but not great but 2142 was just beyond ridiculous.
