Rumor: God of War III to be shown at E3

EuroGamer.pt (translation) reports that God of War III will be shown at E3 next month. The site was apparently informed of this by a Sony representative at the Interactive & Digital Entertainment Festival, currently being held in Paris.

Don't get too excited -- even if the rumor is true, it doesn't mean GoW III will unleash bloody vengeance against the Titans this year. Although a release date is pure speculation at this point, some rumors report the launch to be next Christmas, while certain retailers have given it a placeholder release of next March.

You should see the in-engine cut scenes for Metal Gear. Awesome.

Obie, kinda sad that you heard they were long and so you won't check it out. Do you think that speculation on it trumps the fact that those of us who have played it said its damn epic?

I loved the first Metal Gear, I hated the self indulgent sequel, I am sure the series is better now.
But I rather play my games than watch them.
And that is just my personal opinion.

GoW storyline is pretty cool but when it comes to do it I just watch the cutscenes because they're badass.

Still though that and Final Fantasy XIII make a lovely pair of games that the ps3 will have.

Lol, I actually love God Hand, the combat system was one of the best I have ever seen

But as far as story goes, although I loved all the jokes (they were funny as hell, my ringtone is the credits song...), it lacked depth....

It was about as deep as a kiddie pool, but I still love it. Serves as a prime example why you've got to read more than 1 review.

In fairness, God Hand's story wasn't really meant to be taken seriously and was supposedly more of a parody.
I found it funny, though, which was good enough for me, despite the cliché plot.

...and that's about as close to saying anything negative about God Hand as I'll ever get.

I know it wasn't to be taken seriously, just like Viewtiful Joe, I loved the game because of its sense of quirkiness, and God Hand was 3 times as much!

Greatest storyline? Nah, but it is a great game, fullstop, so far, the only people I've seen come down on it are the predictable fanboys you already know are going to say its crap, etc

I liked the GOW story... actually. I brought back Ancient Greek mythology with an appropriate level of brutality. Thing I loved about it was how unapologetically violent it was and I still consider Kratos's walk of shame in GOW II one of the more powerful moments in gaming.

I mean I won't say it's the best storyline in games right now (although admittedly that's a pretty low set bar), but it's certainly in the top teir. Especially within it's specific genre who's main competitors are Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden. I do think they essentially wrote themselves into a corner with GOW II though.

Don't say, well it has a better story than space invaders (sorta) I'll give you that.

To be honest DMC,NG and God of war stories just give you an excuse to mindlessly kill hordes of enemies except that those games make it fun and don’t fail like other games try to pull out the same and I’m looking at you Mr. Kingdom under fire.

So far I played the PSP version which was short but dude it was incredibly well done game the only defect was that it is too short.

Oh yeah about the story well as hard as they try to put Spartans as manly men you can’t ignore the historical point of view that they were in fact a bunch of ghey pedos but if you ignore all that is actually good but I wouldn’t say the best.

The GOW plot is great, but I wouldn't call it epic, compared to most games it is lightyears in front, but really its nothing that special, and its nothing that nobody else could have thought of.

Man blames himself because he stupidly killed his family, asks gods to rid him of his memories, gods for some apparent reason use him like a slave, takes revenge on Zeus who for some obscure reason has become corrupted >_<

Its got nothing on lets say Lord of the rings for example, or ff7, but damn, this game could make for a movie darn well close to lord of the rings if done properly.

To be honest I would say like or better than 300 if done right but I wouldn’t push it more than that. Remember you have to make it for all audiences especially if there is a huge investment on it unless you want it to flop, that means not naked women and lower the tone of gore and blood.

Well of course Mario is an epic tale of how a lower class citizen fought his way through hordes of malevolent aristocrats and bureaucrats, dodged the politic fire and controversy (All cleverly disguised as fire and turtles) and confronted an evil dictator and became the beloved ruler of his kingdom.

This game could be total crap let alone best game of the year. I could see saying something like that about GOW III because the first two were so amazing, but Killzone 2? Relax! (and hope it doesn't suck)

well to me killzone was one of the best game i ever played. yea i know its had some bugs but i still loved it. i never played killzone liberation but i have heard that it was awesome so yea i have faith in killzone 2.
