Rumor: Kratos in PS3 version of Soul Calibur IV

The God of War may be making a guest appearance in Soul Calibur IV if EGM's Quartermann is to be believed. 1Up reveals that its sister-publication's resident rumormonger anticipates Kratos will be in the PlayStation 3 version of the game. Kratos, meet Darth Vader.

Quartermann apparently doesn't go into whether Microsoft will have its own mascot to keep Yoda and the "Dark Apprentice" company on the Xbox 360's SC IV guest roster. Considering the game is due out next month, this rumor should reveal its veracity shortly.

Nah, MC in 360 would be gay, its been done before, MC will become like Mario or something, how can you take him seriously if hes appearing in every tom dicak and harry game, what next, making a guest appearance in Gears?

Kratos for PS3 version is perfect, I highly think they should consider it, as for 360, maybe something less EXPECTED, someone like Ryu from Ninja Gaiden.

I would also like to see Nariko in SC, heavenly sword all the way baby ;)

Naw, Master Chief was already in a fighting game, and he mainly uses firearms. If you want a sword fighter, use The Arbiter with his Energy Sword (let's see that thing take on Yoda's lightsaber!)

Why do people keep saying Ryu, he's already in DOA and I highly doubt Tecmo is gonna license him to Namco

And you would have believed that Yoda/Vader were in the game before Kratos? I don't know about you but Yoda/Vader came out of freakin' nowhere...

I want Snake and Raiden (never thought I'd say that...) and Ryu. MC and the Arbiter. Mario and Luigi...wait... Metaknight and... ... ... Zero Suit Samus :P

They're right fairly often, and Kratos is an absolutely perfect fit for a Soul Calibur fighter. Here's hoping it's true.

Who would even fit from Microsoft properties? Hero / Avatar from Fable? Kameo? Baldur from Too Human? RNA/Lineage Elf from Shadowrun?

Only Microsoft associated brand / character (READ: not owned, associated) I could see fit would be Ryu Hayabusa... though given Team Ninja's general attitude towards Namco fighting games, I doubt we'd see that, even with Itagaki's departure.

Anyways, yeah. Cool that Kratos is in there. Not a huge GoW fan, but it might just make me pick up the PS3 version and forsake my 360 friends. He's definitely a cool fit if proven true :D

What about the Agent from Crackdown? The only problem I could see would be transitioning from a cartoony style to a more realistic one, but it could work.

What would the agent from Crackdown's weapon be? A rifle? Or a grenade, perhaps?

IIRC, the PS2 version of SoulCalibur II had Heihachi and he fought with his fists / gauntlets. I don't know about anything else, but the first thing I leveled up completely in Crackdown was strength. Bare knuckle brawling would definitely fit :)

Well if they want to avoid people with guns, Ryu is the only option I can think of, the thing with those other characters mentioned is that they aren't well known, whats the point sticking in characters people with 360 don't even know, let alone PS3 owners. Thats pointless.

At least people KNOW Kratos and Nariko, maybe not so much Nariko, but considering Heavenly sword was one of the most popular PS3 games, mainly because it came during a game starvation period, its hard not to know who she is, or at least what Heavenly Sword is.

I really hope the Xbox version doesn't just have another Spartan/Master Chief. It was cute in DOA, but come on.

i'm looking forward to the game...
but if this rumor is true, i hope they were planning to put all the "gimmick" character (yoda, darth vader, etc.) from the START or at least early in the development of the game. if they're just throwing them in when they feel like it, i have a genuine fear that the game balance may be affected or not is not being given the attention it deserves.

I could see Altair from Assasin's creed jumping into the 360 version. Maybe the Gears of war dude?

Why do you dislike a character that much? I mean, Kratos is a perfect fit for the series. You may as well just quit the series if you can't even accept Kratos as a fighter.

Why should I "quit the series" because I don't like one character that's not even a Soul Calibur character? If it's anything like Soul Calibur II, I won't HAVE to accept him as a fighter. The guest characters in II didn't even appear unless you used them yourself or you were playing one of the special modes, and even then they were really rare.

I'm not one of those pissy little whiners that goes crazy whenever a 3rd party character makes a cameo in a game, but Kratos is shit. That's it. He's shit. He's a horrible character from a horrible game from a HORRIBLE creator and I'm never, ever going to use him if he ends up in Soul Calibur.

And you're gonna keep all your friends from playing as him too. Because he's shit.

I'm sure you'll get your reward in the afterlife for ensuring the save game on your Xbox 360 retains a zero in that column.
