Hell freezing over is the main plot device in Diablo III...
Or, Blizzard will announce Diablo III when Hell Freezes Over, etc.

Or, hell has already frozen over since the announcement of Starcraft 2 and they figured they should get D3 out as well.

Well, it could be a shard of whatever the crap that was from Diablo (and maybe Diablo 2) that held Diablo once you defeated him. You know the one the hero shoved into his forehead at the end? I don't remember what happened at the end of Diablo 2, but that could be what they're getting at, instead of ice. Or it could be ice.

Perhaps the ice will be 'melted' on the splash screen as the announcement gets closer.

As a Console Gamer all my games are legal copies but when we talk about the Pc World the only games that I legally own are the ones from Blizzard & VALVe.
So Blizzard please pretty please we really want Diablo 3! And of course StarCraft 2 :)

I'm pretty convinced. You can clearly see some red substance behind, which I think might be lava.

this may sound stupid, but hell all the speculations seem stupid as well. has anyone tried using 3D glasses to look at the image? you can clearly see something underneath with shapes and symbols and such. maybe looking through the blue side will show something underneath. maybe looking through both will show something as well. just a thought

I would LOVE a Diablo III especially since Flagship FAILED at Hellgate:London, which was supposed to bring back the Diablo experience in a new IP. But I'm unsure as to how they'll make the storyline believable considering the fact Diablo and Mephisto's soul stones were destroyed and how Baal has been killed like over 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 + times and how even their uber selves have been massacred.
What kind of story would D3 bring that could actually continue the series without beeing retarded or corny.
