Today in Joystiq: June 24, 2008
This very detailed Simpsons Quake III mod is pretty old (video added December 2007), but we never covered it then, and the video is too pretty to miss. (Via Boing Boing; thanks, Jason C) Check out the highlights for today:

Nice use of the Q3 engine. I like the amount of detail the designer put into the level.
HighFiveJesus @ Jun 25th 2008 12:07AM
yes you can tell they are some huge fans and i am proud of their attention to detail, being a simpsons encyclopedia myself (pre season 11).
Ken Seang @ Jun 25th 2008 12:12AM
Yea that an awesome map and great attention to detail. They should make it into a Team Fortress map.
JetPogi @ Jun 25th 2008 12:19AM

theturtle363 @ Jun 25th 2008 12:19AM

Dan @ Jun 25th 2008 12:31AM
Wow, very impressive. It has same detail and almost the same look and feel of the real animated show. Kudos.
JerJer @ Jun 25th 2008 12:44AM

If you squint you can see "her" Adam's apple.
mr mobius @ Jun 25th 2008 12:51AM
Impressive. Was that even a garden on top of the kwik-e-mart in reference to the time Apu had the garden on the roof?
FiredCylinder @ Jun 25th 2008 1:44AM
Whoa, that almost makes me want to install quake 3 again just to see that.
007craft @ Jun 25th 2008 2:01AM
Excelent map. As a mapper I love detailed maps like this. So many people make maps and dont really put effort into them. The pull something out of their ass in 10 hours and call it a map.
No this was done superbly. Im sure this took him over 100 hours easily. As a simpsons fan as well, I really enjoyed the setting. It reminded me of playing the simpsons game, and only being able to explore a small part of the simpsons house, except this time you can explore all the houses it seems, and more of the simpsons house with more detail. 5 stars for sure.
My only complaint is this was done for quake III, which is a crappy faced pased arcade shooter. But whatever, the map still rocks.

Awesome attention to detail and all that, looks great... (Everybody gets a trophy day!)
But for some reason the entire time I was watching it, I was thinking of "The Milkman Conspiracy" level from Psychonauts. Now that would be a cool map :P
Maverick Saturn @ Jun 25th 2008 4:59AM
I want a simpson sequel mod for UT3 :)
Procris @ Jun 25th 2008 5:50AM
Man the attention to detail is crazy. Everything looked as it should have (apart from the lack of Bart and Lisa's room). Too bad its for Q3 and not UT3 or something.
Kizzle @ Jun 25th 2008 9:26AM
...Bart and Lisa's rooms are in there.
jl_Mafia @ Jun 25th 2008 6:01AM
Yes, that's nice and all but can you shoot the Flander's?
Benny @ Jun 25th 2008 7:12AM
Only with the T-shirt launching gun.
Benny @ Jun 25th 2008 7:12AM
That is actually bloody amazing.
booticon @ Jun 25th 2008 9:34AM
Played this map with a friend the other day using OpenArena (works great!), and the map is incredible. Can't wait to DM-it-up with about 8 people. The map is huge.
Mr.ESC @ Jun 25th 2008 11:10AM
*Sniff So beautiful.
