As we wait for the Tales of Vesperia demo to cross the Pacific and wash up on our shores (having lost its memory and clutching onto one clue from its past), we'll take the time to check out some Japanese videos of the game. Although proficient Xbox 360 users can grab the demo off the Asian marketplace now -- and it's even in English -- we region-abiding folks will just have to get our fix this way.
Both Tales of Vesperia videos can be found after the break. One shows off the game's battle system, which looks like old-school Tales of combat meets Eternal Sonata, while the other clip appears to show off the game's next-gen yammering mechanic.
Well I have never played a “Tales of” game and I know they are praised as if they were made of gold and chocolate but I don’t think I’ll buy it.
I would post my dislike towards these videos but I don’t want to ruin for the people who like the series so I’ll take Red vs Blue PSA advice and keep it to myself yet I have to say this. The voices are very effing annoying and hurt my ears.
Oh yeah and Copyrights to caboose awesome videos yada yada yada.
IF YOU'VE NEVER PLAYED A TALES GAME B4 THEN OF COURSE YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY IT'S PRAISED AS IF IT WERE GOLD. TO ME, I PRAISE THE SERIES AS IF IT WAS MY SECOND LIFE. IT'S A VERY GOOD GAME. EVEN IF YOU LIKE YOUR D&D CLASSIC STYLE GAME, YOU SHOULD AT LEAST GET THE DEMO OF THIS GAME(ENGLISH VERSION)OR PLAY TALES OF SYMPHONIA FOR THE GAMECUBE OR TALES OF ABYSS FOR THE PS2. IF THE JAPANESE VOICES ARE ANNOYING THEN SWITCH TO ENGLISH. DON'T GET ME WRONG, I LOVE D&D!BUT ALL THE GOOD STORYLINES AND THE STRATEGIC GAMEPLAY OF THE TALES SERIES IS IN MY OPINION THE ONLY RPG THAT CAN SURPASS D&D. SO FROM ONE RPG PLAYER TO ANOTHER, I REALLY RECCOMEND YOU TRY OUT ONE OF THEM EXCEPT FOR THE FIRST PS2 VERSION TALES OF LEGENDIA, THAT ONE HAS VERY VERY BAD GRAPHICS AND DIFFERS ALOT FROM THE TWO I MENTIONED EARLIER. IF YOU WISH TO RESPOND, POSITIVELY OR NEGATIVELY, PLEASE DO EITHER WAY. I LIKE TO TAKE NOTE OF PEOPLES OPINIONS ON THE GAME AND TAKE A DEEPER LOOK INTO IT
Sorry but it doesn't look as pretty as Eternal Sonata did. For some reason they look completely different to me. Plus the characters look weird to me.
Eternal Sonata is such a beautiful game. Oh well I'm glad that there are so many RPGs coming out for the 360 so I'm sure I'll find one among them that I truly like.
Wow... this game looks TERRIBLE. Looks like a direct rip of Tales of the Abyss (which was by far the worst game in the entire Namco Tales series). I've played about 6 different Tales games, and frankly, it feels like they have been going downhill for a long time now.
I am interested in more RPG titles for the 360, but I'll have to play the demo to make a judgment call. Definitely not as annoying as Blue Dragon though.
The only tales game I ever played was symphonia and... this looks like more of the same... not that thats a bad thing persay but generally you want a series to evolve
the 'next gen' ness of the graphics doesn't look to be too tuned up either >_>
On a side note it's always funny to me how other genres don't have to "evolve" but any time an RPG looks even remotely similar to its predecessor, it's lambasted as more of the same. Meanwhile Gears 2 for instance looks like the same frigging game as the first one albeit with "tweaks." It just seems like somewhat of a double standard.
