Capcom licenses Unreal engine for Euro-developed title
Capcom has announced that Epic's Unreal Engine will be providing the stunning and inevitably shiny visuals for another of its upcoming titles, a new project being developed somewhere in Europe. Keiji Inafune, Mega Managing corporate officer for Capcom, described the technology as "a perfect fit" for the unnamed title, deeming it capable of "ensuring a high-quality game experience." We rather like those.
The developers will also benefit from having "thorough knowledge" of Unreal Engine 3, though if they encounter any problems, they should send an e-mail to the folks working on Capcom's Unreal-powered jetpack-em-up, Dark Void.

How about a Megaman X game, in third person over the shoulder view, using Unreal Engine?
That would be nice.
=p

How about companies try another engine. Unreal 3 is not a great engine any more. Almost every dev uses it and when a new game comes out they all look the same. So why not try some thing else then there game will stand out more. Like how about making your own engine or get another engine like the offset engine. So to me Capcom really could do better then this but I guess when you want to be like every other company I guess this is the way to go.
Plus Joystiq how about next time make a post when some company uses another engine seeing as by now every one uses UE3.

Joe,
Capcom already has an engine; it's called MtFramework. Unfortunately, their engine doesn't port between platforms all that easily and delivers underwhelming performance (poor framerates) given its hardware requirements; try playing Lost Planet PC, and you'll see exactly what I mean. The only reason you see so many developers (especially console devs) using the Unreal 3 engine is that it's incredibly portable and runs extremely well on any platform; even not so great Unreal 3 based ports (Turok, for PS3 or Gears of War for PC) run smootly with the only major problem being texture pop-in.
