Nintendo is proudly boasting that it won't be waiting until E3 to reveal some of their biggest upcoming games. The new DS announcements for today are Kirby Super Star Ultra and Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir, both with new screens in the galleries below!
As a remake of the original SNES favorite, KSSU will use the touch screen to breathe new life into the existing mini-game compilation. Yeah, if the DS does anything well, it's mini-games. It'll be a totally revamped experience, with new Revenge of the King and Meta Knight Ultra modes in the works, including local wireless play. Kirby has done everything right so far on the DS, so we should expect greatness from the little pink blob on September 29th.
<insert witty segue here>
Yes, yes -- another mystery adventure game is on the way in the form of MillionHeir. Get over that delightful play on words, and check out some of the previous games in the Mystery Case Files range. The DS entry will be a "painted scene" point-and-click adventure, where a cluey detective needs to find the rightful heir to a fortune. It seems like the standard pixel-hunt for inventory items and evidence -- but a multiplayer mode is also included, which is a pretty nifty addition for an adventure game. MillionHeir hits the stores on September 8th.

Yay for a new kirby game. Honstely, I wasn't a big fan of Canvas Curse...but I do love the older kirby games :)
Really, Kirby's Avalanche would be a really good game to port to the DS for $20 I would pick it up :D

you should have liked Kirby Squeak Squad; it was a pure throwback to oldschool kirby, hardly any stylus use if you wanted to avoid it!

Kirby's Avalanche = Kirby-skinned version of Puyo Pop. If you like it, you should check out Puyo Pop Fever for DS (has 8-player local), or maybe import the Japanese-only Puyo Puyo 15 Anniversary (adds WFC multiplayer).

I loved Kirby Canvas Curse. :)
I got all 250 coins and beat the game. Kirby Canvas Curse is my only used game (I couldn't find a "new", unopened copy anywhere).
Puyo Pop Fever is great, but good luck finding it. I own it, but I had a difficult time finding a "new", unopened copy.
Peace.

According to the press release:
"Kirby Super Star™ Ultra for Nintendo DS, launching Sept. 29, re-imagines one of the most beloved Kirby games of all time."
Either 24th or 29th though, I'll be getting this game for sure! It was my favorite SNES game by far!

It's not really fair to call Kirby Super Star a mini-game compo, is it? Spring Breeze, Dyna Blade, The Great Cave Offensive, Revenge of Meta Knight, and Milky Way Wishes were all full-fledged platformers in their own right. The Arena also built on that, basically being a Boss Rush.
In fact, if you consider the Arena a platformer, the platformers outnumber the mini-games 2-to-1 (the minigames being Gourmet Race, Samurai Kirby, and Megaton Punch).
Now, that's not saying the *new* version won't be just the minigames, but if it is, then it is a pathetic excuse of a remake. Give me The Great Cave Offensive or give me death!

Still waiting for a F***ing DS port of Super Metroid. Nintendo really knows how to piss off some fans.

I'm just impressed that the logo doesn't feature ANGRY KIRBY like every other Kirby game released in the last 10 years.
Of course, when I pick the game up I expect to be fully disappointed.

I blame the Kirby anime for this. Ever since 4Kids dubbed it, Nintendo's been using that logo (which I don't think looks as good as the original logo), and needlessly adding a frown to Kirby's face.

Yeah, I'd be careful using the word "minigame" to describe anything other than The Gourmet Race, Samurai Kirby et al.
People are reading it and assuming that this game is to the Kirby series what WarioWare is to Wario Land...which is a truly unfair judgement of one of the best Kirby games ever.
Obviously, Day 1.

I can't wait for this! Squeek Squad was a disappointment in that it was short. I beat it in 6 hours with 100% data...

Well most Kirby games are fairly short, all things considered. The original Kirby's Dreamland took all of a half-hour to beat, and that's in both regular and extra mode. Still, Squeak Squad was a bit disappointing. But I'm plenty pumped for Kirby Super Star Ultra!
