Gears of War 2 beta footage leaked [Update]

Update: Even more beta footage, including executions and the "death crawl" can be found after the jump!

Looking for even more Gears of War 2 news today? Leaked footage of the Gears of War 2 beta has leaked on YouTube that showcases new environments and weaponry. Earlier in the day we posted new renders and concept art for the anticipated sequel but other details have been scarce. If you're a fan of all things Gears of War 2 you need to watch this footage courtesy of Analog Hype. You know, until they take it down!

Really Caleb Frost, I myself was not expecting this sequel to be anything like the first. Hell lets give the locust bat wings just so it's something different....

In all seriousness, it looks very good. Also lets cut the "man it's just gears 1 with new maps and stuff" crap out now. Kids never stop to amaze me on how they complain about these things with sequels.

To say that Gears of War 2 is the same as 1 with new maps etc., is like saying MGS4 is the same as MGS2, with better graphics and new guns. It just doesn't work. There have already been side-by-side comparisons with Gears 1 to Gears 2, The graphics have shown a tremendous increase, the physics have been upped, and the whole look and feel of the game is more crisp. Cliff even stated that Gears 2 was 30% more than Gears 1. Which is a major accomplishment when you see how well Gears 1 was.

I Totally agree with Arnon, almost all games are very similar to their predecessors why would a developer totally change a bestselling game, see resistance 2, halo, god of war( they havent shown the 3rd but it will be improved graphics and same game play), metal gear, zelda, madden(worst of all) all games nowadays are just slight improvements, im not sure what some people expect from gears of war 2, did you want them to use the crytek engine or something, i mean its going to look similar because its using an improved version of the same engine from the first, I think if you liked the first one alot you will like this one, i will gladly pay 60 bucks for this game due to great mp, co op and single player and probably some of the more difficult but fun achievements on xbox

Agreed Dave.. You cant fix what is not broken.. and for the sake of Gears.. It's not broken. I honestly don't see why people are saying it looks like the first. It almost seems like they wanted it to go from Third person to first person.. which would just throw it in with all the others. Yet, it's one of the only good Third-person games out there, and should be acknowledged for it.

By the way.. those are the most realistic flames I have ever seen in a game so far. Good job so far, EPIC, and keep up the good work!

This is what I was expecting from this morning's footage (instead of 14 minutes of interview and 1 minute of game footage). Nice to see we still got the real goods today!

River actually looks like a damn fun map now that we can see it in action.

flame thrower looks badass. Too bad they didn't show more new weapons.

Man, being on a gaming budget sucks! One game every couple of months if I'm lucky and out of Left 4 Dead, Gears 2 and Resistance 2 come November (presumably) I can't decide. Sweet footage though. Dustin must be having a joygasm this week.

Come on Resistance 2 and Left 4 Dead? Obviously Gears 2 beats both those and more.

What i'm waiting for is to see if Gears of War 2 will beat Resistance 2 in sales and Ratings.

Can't wait for this to be shown at E3 along with Alan Wake which as of now is being shown at E3 http://e3.net/games/?game_id=8

That 2nd vid was full of little treasures! Cannot wait to try out that flamethrower! And the sticky grenades!

The execution looked sweet aswell when he swung the gun round like a sledgehammer!
