To accent the release of 1Up's Gears of War 2 multiplayer video, Microsoft has released a bundle of new screens and images of concept art from the game. Peruse the GoW 2 galleries below at your leisure, but fanboys, please try not to spill any Emulsion on the keyboard.

I want to see a graphical comparison between gears 1 and gears 2...I just really don't see much of a difference. I'll still be there at a midnight launch for it though.

Yes I'm aware of that, I've played it for hundreds of hours if not thousands. That's why I expect so much out of the sequel, the first one blew me away graphically so I would hope for the same with the second.

MGS4 does look really good. It's amazing how fast the time goes by in it though, I looked at my play time and it was like 9 hours and I just got into act 2.

I feel I missed out on Gears 1 multiplayer, I suck, big time, and I can pick up just about any FPS and own anyone I know...

I don't know what it is... I'm not sure if I just suck at it, or if it's just horrible, but it can't be that if it's so popular... right guys?

You can't really compare the multiplayer to an FPS, because in an FPS you rarely use much cover, you just go in guns blazing. With gears your pretty much screwed if your not using cover constantly.

That's probably a big reason, I thought the concept was soooo cool, but I'm sorry I really couldn't stand it :( I wanted to though, sorry Fenix, I failed you...

Although I enjoyed co-op and pissing off my friends cuz I wanted to chainsaw everyone...

The difference is not as much in QUALITY, but in QUANTITY.

Gears 1 looked fantastic, but had a very limited amount of action on screen at one time. It was pretty claustrophobic.

Gears 2 will have the same level of grahpics (if not slightly better), but will open the levels up and throw in HUNDREDS of enemies on screen at once.

So to say that Gears 2 hasn't really differentiated itself from its predacessor is pretty baseless. The improvements in the Unreal Engine technology are pretty dramatic, and we haven't even seen the final product yet. It's not even due out for another 5 months for crying out loud.

I loved Gears 1, never finished though. It was my first "Next Gen" game though, so held a special place in my heart. On subject though, the one thing that really bothered me was that I never could tell what the aliens looked liked. Their faces were so overly textured and monotoned that I still can't picture one in my head.

Subtle differences (and lots more brown), but like Spartacus mentioned, seeing hundreds of detailed enemies on-screen at once is going to be intense.

My gamertag was originally xPHOENIX KNIGHTx but everyone kept asking me if I was from Phoenix (as in teh city) which I am not ( I based it off of the bird that rises from the ashes and what not) so it got annoying. MONTHS later Gears came out, decided to change it to Fenix and guess what? No more "hey are you from Phoenix?" Easy fix. Either way calm down Boffo.

The screens look really nice, but I must say that I think I prefer the original Gridlock... The remake seems to have taken on a murky Raven Down-esque hue (which is a needlessly long way of saying it's more brown).

This game is so testosterone filled that it's hard to take it seriously. It seems like a satire of all action games/movies with ridiculous over-the-top presentation and a cliché story.

But it's incredible, and I spent hundreds of hours online with the first one, so I'm def getting this. All weapons should have chainsaws this time. Chainsaw Hammer of Dawn anyone?

Rather than all having chainsaws, I think each weapon should have a secondary function that relates to gardening in some way.

Leafblower Hammer of Dawn would be pretty damn cool.

All I can think of every time I see a screen of this game is "can this game get Any more brown!" I mean really, in this shot his legs get lost in the background because of it. Not saying it wont be a good game, I loved the first one. But come on.

I really enjoyed Gears of war I, but please epic for the love of god,fire your character and vehicle designer(s)!
It doesnt matter if its allies or enemies , theyre all the same steroid monsters with no neck , their armour the same bulky ugly mess, and the vehicles are all hopeless grey lumps.
the architecture and environments are great though, and not as grey and dreary as the first trailer indicated.

I've noticed a recent trend in games (far from a bad one, mind you) to incorporate lots of FIER!!11one1 into things. Apparently, Gears now has a flamethrower, too.

Like I said, I am certainly not complaining here... :) Only really bad fire I've seen recently has been Haze's.
