Nintendo announces new Wario Land for Wii, Kirby for DS

With E3 just around the corner, we've begun to brace ourselves for the deluge of new game announcements that always accompany the annual event, the latest of which has come from Nintendo. This morning the company announced a trio of new titles set to be shown during next month's conference, including Wario Land: Shake It! for the Wii, as well as Kirby Super Star Ultra and Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir, both for the company's touchable portable.

As previously announced for both Japan and Europe, Nintendo describes Wario Land: Shake It! as a "classic side-scroller," and notes that the game will have players controlling Mario's portly nemesis with the Wii remote turned sideways on September 25. Kirby Super Star Ultra, on the other hand, will re-imagine the SNES classic platformer starring everyone's favorite perpetually-hungry cream puff when it debuts four days later on September 29. Finally, Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir brings Big Fish Games' line of casual PC puzzlers to the DS earlier in the month on September 8. The games join the previously announced Mario Super Sluggers, giving us an early look at what Nintendo will have on tap at the LA Convention Center in a few short weeks.

Kirby Super Star Ultra? Oh hell fucking YES!

Indeed. Kirby Super Star was one of my favorite SNES games. I've been waiting for a good Kirby game to come a long for awhile, but it seems that this will be a port. Either way, I'm gonna buy it because I am certain it'll be worth it.

I agree, switch the platforms, make Kirby on the Wii and Wario on the DS, I loooooved that Wario game on the GBA...

Yeah, if there's one game series that would work well using just a wii mote control method, it's kirby.

Wario was always better on the handhelds, granted Shake will be side scrolling, but it just works better there.

Either way, a Kirby Super Star re-release is awesome too.

If this Warioland doesn't play like Mischief Makers... epic fail...

Mischief Makers is one of my favorite game of all time, I would buy that in a second (I would leave work early the day I learn that it arrived in VC, which will probably never happen :(

I'm reminded of an image I found of Wario dressed up as Marina. I can hear him saying "Shake shake!"

That's a disturbing-sounding image....

Then again, I've seen Wario's face shopped onto nearly ever Smash Bros. character...

That Wario game has so much potential. Love 2D gaming.

I remember my little sister shaking the NES controller back in the day because she thought it would make Mario jump higher.

My idiot cousin used to believe shaking controllers somehow helped his characters move, or his cars turn in racing games. After he pretty much ripped my system off the shelf, I beat that out of him. :D

My guess is they are saving that as a surprise for E3.

Why everybody is always attacking Nintendo for bringing games that dont appeal to Hardcore gamers??? We played all the games from the past but that does not mean that everybody else has, ergo, new generations can grow and love Nintendo games like we have... It does not have to be all about us (hardcore gamers) all the time... I love Nintendo and always will... (Now where Zelda???) LoL...

I am so underwhelmed. When are they going to leak the items that will supposedly make up to hardcore gamers? This is pitiful.

It's going to be Kid Icarus and Retro's Zelda game for hardcore gamers.

all they need now IMO is freaking Seiken Densetsu 3 for DS.

Just wait until E3: "Hey, you guys know when we said that we'd have games for all of our key franchises, some of which would appease to the core gamer? Remember that announcement on June 25th? Uhh...yeah. That was it. Kthxbai, conference over lulz!"

Meanwhile, at the PS3 press conference.

"...and while we don't have much to show you today, it's easy to see that with our projected release schedule, 2011 will definitely be the year of the PS3! You guys have played MGS4, right?"

And at the Xbox 360 conference.

"...as you can see, with sure-fire AAA titles like Halo Hockey, Halo RPG, Some RPG That Isn't Final Fantasy and Another Attempt At A Kid-Friendly Game, the Xbox 360 will continue to be the hardcore gaming leader of this generation."

A nice 2d Wario platformer is cool but I still want Kirby Wii

Not that I'm not happy for these games (especially Kirby!), but c'mon Nintendo! Where mah RPGs?? I've finished One Piece. I'm kinda looking at Opoona, and Fire Emblem but I dunno. Any suggestions?

Last Wariogame I played was WarioLand 4 on the GBA. I want to try Wario World but I heard here (http://www.expotv.com/Wario-World/3e-Y1J) that its a huge pile of garbage. The gameplay also looks lame. Can anyone provide any positive words about this game or should I avoid it?

Wario World is a great game.

It's just extremely short. I beat it in 4 or 5 hours. Don't buy it.

I agree with the above statement. I wanted to buy it, it was so much fun, but every time i rented it i could clean it out before it was due back

If you find it in a bargain bin or used or something for like $15, then it would totally be worth it

Sweet, Wario Land should be awesome! As long as it's got a hell of a lot more longevity than Wario World. There's nothing like finishing everything a game has to offer in a couple sittings. Ick...Just thinking about that game killed my anticipation a little.

I already own Kirby Super Star, so that's not too exciting for me.

Wario Land looks pretty cool. Is it not even widescreen though? Those big empty spaces with a tiny amount of info on each side look like they make the actual gameplay area 4:3. I wonder if those areas don't appear on 4:3 televisions.

Hope the new Kirby will be a lot longer than Squeak Squad. Great game, but way too easy...

Only question is, could Wario be worth a full price tag? I'd have imagined a DS game more in lieu with NSMB or a WiiWare game would have been the idea. Time will tell. A great 2D game is as great as a great 3D game. As long as I have fun with it, dimensions don't matter. 2D can be much more stylsed than most of the 3D games of this generation (Okami withstanding) or last generation (Wind Waker withstanding).

If memory serves me right, Kirby Super Star Ultra will feature wi-fi multiplayer, I believe.

I'd still like to see that cancelled GameCube Kirby title finally come out...

Wario Land looks good so far. I appreciate the fact that developers are still willing to put out 2D games on home consoles.
Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell) will be making animated cutscenes for the game. That's pretty cool.
I don't know much about this Good-feel (the developer), other than they're a new studio headed by the former CEO of the now-defunct Konami branch in Kobe... Not sure what games they made, though.

Damn it all, that's about a month after i go away to college and won't have the time or the funding to pick it up at least until Christmas

Same with the Wario game. Hasn't that been out there for a few months also?

The Japanese version of Kirby was known for a while, yes.

But information of Wario Land for Wii was recently found out.
