Where is in game private chat?

That feature better be there, or I'll be bummed.

I for one am pissed that in game sandwich making isn't included here. I mean, damn, if I am playing MGS4 and want a sandwich, then I should be able to just pause the game and have the ps3 make a sandwich. All this getting of the couch crap is so N64. I kid, but if they included that, the 360 would be completely blown out of the water.

Pretty much everything anyone cares about except cross game voice chat. I'd also say game invites and launching, but I know those features will be in HOME and really don't need to be XMB features.

Though the ability to send a friend an invitation to join you from within a game would be very nice.

the friends receiving, and sending messages feature is in the game so i'm sure you can be like "get in this fuckin game with me" and you're buddy will join you, if that game doesnt have invitations i mean

There needs to be in game private chat! Not all games have chat in it.
And what about using the Internet Browser? It can be done to register in MGS4 so why not in in-game XMB? What if we want to go to GameBattles.com or something and get a clan battle going?

yea i was looking for browser access too. that would be great for looking up walkthroughs and such for when i get stuck on a game. i thought cross game private chat was a key feature of the in-game xmb anyway, guess messages and invites will have to do (unless the list is incorrect or im reading it wrong).

You could always do as the Nintendikes do and use your 360 to communicate. LOL.

I've never done that but Mario Kart online is a freakin' bore without chat.

All I care about is that I can check or send messages while in a game and access background music. Those were the biggest annoyances to me

Voice/video chat would have been nice, too, but I'm not too sore about that. I flat out don't care about browser access. The browser on the PS3 really isn't that great, anyway, and locks up when you're just browsing as it is. If the browser's stability were to be fixed then I would like to see in-game access.

I'm pretty happy with what can be accessed at the moment, allegedly.

This list is so obviously fake, how embarassing that ps3fanboy even posts it. Come on those aren't even the way sony describes their own features. I guess you can get anything posted on the web these days, what baloney. Wake up folks--terminate the game? BGM? hahahaahahahahahhahahahahahahahaahhahaahha

I second that.

Also, while this sounds like a great update (especially being able to change audio device settings without leaving a game), my personal favorite is the one which added the "album" ability for DL games. I've got probably around 70 items under "Game" and not being able to organize them was a NIGHTMARE.

Yeah people are getting mad with this list of features as if it was the official one. What I'm wondering though is why ps3fanboy thinks the update will arrive earlier. At least to me all signs point to a release near E3. The Cagney update for Burnout Paradise will come out in July 10 and one of its features will be custom soundtracks.

That makes me think that the 2.40 firmware will release around that date and that not all games will be able to have custom soundtracks. Only the ones that are patched to have that feature. Makes sense to me because if it was a feature that all games will gain instantaneously once the new firmware comes around...why would Criterion patch their game to have it?

Anyway it should be a great update no matter what and I'm eagerly expecting it.

Maybe with Burnout, the custom music is integrated into the game the way the regular music was, and you can easily skip tracks using L1 (or whatever button it was), instead of going back to the XMB to change songs.

"The Cagney update for Burnout Paradise will come out in July 10 and one of its features will be custom soundtracks."

Games have been able to use custom soundtracks for a while, Super Stardust HD has had it since day one. It's up to the devs to implement it.

So does cross-game invites fall into the cross-game messages category?

I'm really hoping this is not overlooked, it's pretty much the second most important feature behind the cross-game messages.

Also, does cross-game messages include voice messages?

No one will ever be happy with whatever Sony puts out.

We have to wait on that video walkthrough of 2.40 first. Hopefully, they're are working it on right now.
