Too Human video serves up co-op 'serving'
Serving, it's not just for restaurants any more. As Too Human's Denis Dyack describes it, 'serving' is a gameplay component of co-op found in Silicon Knights' nearly complete mythical opus, whereby one player knocks opponents skyward while the other makes with a mid-air smack down. Think of it as juggling -- with style.
It all looks interesting, though like so much of Too Human, we don't think it comes across quite as cool or inspired as it must look through Dyack's eyes. Feel free to check out the video below and let us know if you feel the same way, or if, like Dyack, you think that this makes Too Human feel "very different" from other action RPGs sitting on your shelf.

elmersglue @ Jun 25th 2008 4:17AM
i just wanna play this game for the story... It can disappoint in all other aspects, but if the story ends up sucking, i'm gonna be pissed!
Crash Happy @ Jun 25th 2008 8:26AM
To be fair I think this is the kind of thing that might be coll to do with a mate, rather than try to watch a demo of in a little clip like that.
SugarDaddy @ Jun 25th 2008 8:28AM
That was a pretty obvious statement. You basically just said that it would be more fun to PLAY the game than WATCH it.
Crash Happy @ Jun 25th 2008 8:43AM
Actually I'm saying that whilst Joystiq may feel it doesn't come "across quite as cool or inspired as it must look through Dyack's eyes" the real test, as you so inelegantly point out, is whether it's good as a player. Dyack just isn't in the equation and I could well believe, as sfubear claims, that the clip isn't even a very good example of it anyway.
SoCoolCurt (PSN: KillaKornbread) @ Jun 25th 2008 4:34AM
eh that doesnt look bad. if i ever do get a 360, itll certainly be games like this ill be buying. dont really get the 'serving' thing but the gameplay looks decent.
sfubear @ Jun 25th 2008 4:36AM
I am really looking forward to this game, but i do have to admit that the video doesn't display what he is talking a bout hat well, there should have been more game footage. This guy at toohuman.net (hannar) played the first level preview version I believe and was talking about how he spent several minutes fighting hords of goblins in the air (as the enemies drop from the ceiling sometimes) before they had time to hit the ground and fight back, he said it was a blast.
John @ Jun 25th 2008 4:51AM
I can't wait for the inevitable "you got served" videos on youtube.
SugarDaddy @ Jun 25th 2008 8:26AM
I can...
ConanL @ Jun 25th 2008 5:29AM
This game had me at Destructible envviroments. Clowing up your own base has never been so much fun!
aristokrat @ Jun 25th 2008 11:00AM
Well played, sir
maylon @ Jun 25th 2008 9:11AM
I see what you did there sugardaddy, and I agree.
JerJerBinks @ Jun 25th 2008 10:09AM
We all saw what he did there, this is nothing new.
KilgoreTrout XL @ Jun 25th 2008 10:41AM
Hopefully this will be everything that Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II should have been, but wasn't.
And it should have a cool story too, which is icing on the cake. It's on the day-1 list for me.
JerJerBinks @ Jun 25th 2008 1:01PM
Completely off thread topic, but damn I miss Kurt Vonnegut.
jonathan @ Jun 25th 2008 10:51AM
From the moment I saw the first trailer, which was a collection of "wouldn't this be cool?" moments (but really were just stupid, and were more like "Why the hell is he doing that, and letting that guy die while watching impassively, and boy this is more about being "cool" than being "good"), this game has repeatedly shown itself to be more about cool then good gameplay. I foresee metacritic results in the 60-70 range. On the other hand, co-op is always fun! I hope they make fun enough.
Cyro @ Jun 25th 2008 11:48AM
I dont know about 60-70 metacritic. I believe its going to be higher. 85-94 Metacritic. But hey thats what I think. I guess we all win if this game is a hit!
Faptor @ Jun 25th 2008 11:45AM
does anyone else pick a ridiculously old age every time they wanna view one of these vidyas
KrazyIan @ Jun 25th 2008 11:55AM
Of course not, my birthday is just 1/1/1900.
Phinehas @ Jun 25th 2008 1:01PM
Since I am ridiculously old, yes. Yes I do.
tamanchama @ Jun 25th 2008 12:00PM
"Too Human is a very different game from a uhh aspect of combat because it uhh combines action elements and uhh role-playing elements." apparently he's never played the diablo, baldurs gate: dark alliance, champions of norrath series. also untold legends, sacred, and the other 100 action/rpgs that have come and gone. granted some of those games are rather mediocore and 2H may be more on teh action side, but still, its still nothing new and definately nothing as unique as he says it is.
and Jonathan "I foresee metacritic results in the 60-70 range" i completely agree

"I dont know about 60-70 metacritic. I believe its going to be higher. 85-94 Metacritic..."
ya know you're probably right. since microsoft will promote the hell outta this and get everyone hyped, it'll probably garner undeserving scores. ala halo 3, crackdown etc.
Dirt @ Jun 25th 2008 7:54PM
Yeah, some of the best games this generation don't deserve their scores.
At least try playing the games before you bash them. Crackdown was amazing, Halo 3 was fun as hell with friends.
tamanchama @ Jun 26th 2008 7:27PM
i own both~
