This is why you won't see any PS1 Final Fantasy games on the PSN. Square Enix knows they can sell it you eventually on UMD for 30 dollars. Knowing them they'll sell it to you for 39.99 a la FF1 & FF2. Greedy jerks. You all have MY permission to use CFW to play it on your PSP.

My apologies; in the U.S. So technically, you still have to cheat to get those games here.

ff 1 and ff 2 got new graphics right? this game got some new stuff too like the animations =/ and square enix are putting psn stuff to, but they didn't add new stuff to them, might be why its game like xenogear they put up recently wasn't released in umd

Sony is double-dipping any way they can... Grrr.

That said, all I need is the UMD of this game. My daughter had it but then lost the UMD, but still has the box/instructions in mint shape. *sigh*

I'm not going to criticize Sony for this particular game. Considering the original is all but cheap in the USA, I'm happy that we can still get our hands on it for retail price, albeit in port form.

This was one of the first UMDs I ever got. Great RPG! The voice acting kinda sucks but the rest is top-notch stuff.

A port or remake of Xenogears is my life-long dream, tho.

Man, I almost wish I hadn't given up on finding a new copy and picked it up used. I would gladly have handed over $30 to support this reprint.

It's truly mind-boggling that the PSP versions of already-remade-a-thousand-times Final Fantasy 1 and 2 are readily available, yet S-E has to be courted into reprinting VP:L by GQD. Is there no justice, or is there no justice?

I actually already own this here UMD. I think its an improvement over the original in a nice 16:9 presentation. It also makes a pretty decent portable RPG.

Get your story straight. Squenix has no exclusivity with GQD.

CAG has already corrected their article on it.

As far as I know, VPL has never been *unavailable* from Square-Enix directly. I bought the game from them seven months ago for $39.99 without issue, and everyone I've told to get it that way since has had no difficulty, either.

The new price and universal availability is a good thing. It will stop the vultures from hoodwinking impulse buyers who don't do sufficient research. And anti-PSN arguments are a side-issue for RPG fans who simply want to play the game. Yes, UMD games are on their way out. Yes, every Sony-specific format runs the risk of being outdated. Yes, future PSP iterations are likely to focus on internal storage and/or flash media due of speed and convenience. But that doesn't help members of the current user base who have been looking for copies of this game.
