GSC clears the sky on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. follow up

According to the duo, the game, which promises a kind of "what-if" spin on the events depicted in last year's S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, will place players in the role of a mercenary s.t.a.l.k.e.r. named Scar, caught up in a war over "territory, artifacts, and power." Pretty "dynamic" graphics are also promised, with Clear Sky supporting -- but not requiring -- DirectX 10. Other highlighted features include new and "overhauled" levels from the previous game, fast travel, "movie quality" cut scenes, and "greatly improved" AI. Additionally, a new animation engine and "hugely expanded" multiplayer for up to 32 players online or over a LAN will also be included, for those special moments when slaughtering hordes of radioactive mutants just isn't enough.

stalker was awesome, despite all of it's bugs and quirks. I will buy this game without a second thought.
HOWEVER: I hope they fix how enemies could pop you in the skull with a pistol from 2 miles away. That would be great.

"greatly improved" AI"
I hope this is for your allies and friends, the enemy already was way too smart in killing you on the higher difficulties. All sounds like good improvements though. I hope they'll try and get you to identify and sympathize for ncps this time.

Sounds cool, I always like radiation themed mutant things

No ridiculous head bobble please.... or at least give us the option to turn it off with out modding the game.
fischju @ Jun 26th 2008 3:30PM
I read a real interview, the AI can judge cover for both distance and size, and hide where appropritate - the dynamic graphics include dyanamic volumetric smoke and fire, with soft water. The cutscenes in the first were movie quality.

As long as they bring back that dude shouting:
"Get out of here stalker!"
whenever you go to the main town h'm on board. Man that game had so many bugs but i love it.

i also hope they fix the 'money pit'.. ie) making shit-tons of money and having absolutely nothing to spend it on. That's not to say I hope they move cool weapon drops to vendors- finding sweet weapons and armor was one of the coolest parts of Stalker, I just hope there are more things to spend money on.
Michael @ Jun 26th 2008 5:58PM
making all that money could hurt you in the end too, you either had to load up on armors and weapons you'd never use or you get one of the worst endings in the game.
fischju @ Jun 26th 2008 11:16PM
The money didn't really matter - there were 5 bad endings and 2 good - the 5 bad were the only ones that depended on how you played the game

Fuck the first game, it sucked. Too many bugs and shitiness, but I will definitely get this game if the report comes that they've fixed stuff.

Sure do hope they can finally resolve their fecal impaction problems and send it over to console....I just do not have a 1,000 hp pc.
