Rumor: Microsoft to introduce Home-like My GamerPad

New images are circulating around the 'net about Microsoft's supposed answer to PlayStation Home. Dubbed My GamerPad, the two images (which are said to have originated from the very dubious 4chan forums) show a crayola-esque logo and an Avatar waving to nobody in a pavilion.

While we're pretty confident with the information about Avatars, My GamerPad looks like bad Photoshopping from a questionable source. We've put in a request to Microsoft for a statement. Update: Official statement: "Microsoft does not comment on rumors or speculation."

If MS makes a regular two-handed controller like this, they'd only be "copying" themselves. If they make a one-handed remote/wand... then they've moved over into Wii territory.

Home for all its non usefulness does look good from a graphics standpoint and a world view POV. It actually looks like a virtual world.

What normal people would do in such a world is beyond me....

Now if MS does intend to copy sony (who copied Nintendo and the whole Mii avatar/world thing) then I hope they do it right and create something excellent as opposed to complete garbage.

I don't care if they do it or not as long as it doesn't become something I HAVE to navigate through. If it's some gizmo on a blade I can click if I want to that's fine. Wandering around in some virtual room with a bunch of other people I don't know while some of them call each other "gay", "nigga" or "Jew" just isn't where I want to be MS.

Hah! I never thought about it before but horngreen is right. The gamerpad will probably be completely filled with racist and homophobic slurs at launch.

+1 to horngreen and +1 to Microsoft for their attention starved pre-teen audience.

I'd imagine since it's your "gamerpad" you'd probably just be able to invite your friends only, just a guess.

because microsoft is putting no effort into it and releasing habbo hotel v1.1>? how does the release date of anything come into play? I don't care when this is released (I think home will be out at the same time or first) It looks like trash at least from this initial screenshot. If you are going to rip an idea like this you have to be careful, it needs to be better really. This as I have said before, looks like cold diarrhea

Am I the only one that thinks these are images from the Xbox One Avatar Concept that Microsoft had already admitted to have prototyped?

That doesn't mean it can't still come, but I doubt it will look quite like that.

Why all the 'hope its not true' and 'hope it's fake' remarks? They're simply trying to diversify their audience to people other than young males. If it isn't your thing, don't use it.

If there's anything sad it's that they're becoming followers and not leaders. Copiers, not innovators.

It's real. Believe that. I just wonder how the core audience will take it.

I really don't like that fact that MS and Sony are so hell bent on mimicking certain aspects of the Wii. PlayStation Life seems a bit redundant just as the news channel on Wii is considering that both consoles have web browsers. I don't need to be spoon fed my news unless they're offering RSS feeds. Which I'd very much prefer over "news".

Good ole Microsoft, this is what they are good at. If they can't buy it, they recreate it in their own image. Its the MICROSOFT WAY!!

Hoping this isn't true. The avatars actually looked pretty nice, but this just looks like crap.
