Ahhh the Dreamcast memories. Got my Dreamcast along with this game and Sonic Adventure. I lost a lot of sleep back in those days but it didn't really matter back then. :)

Same here. The DC was the last huge "jump" for me between console generations. Sure, I can tell the difference between, say, the 360 and the PS2. But I didn't get that same feeling of "holy crap, this is amazing" I got after putting my new DC on my PS1/Saturn television and booting up Soul Calibur that I did when I put on Call of Duty 2 after playing the latter XBox/PS2/Gamecube titles.

For most of the 90's, arcades always outshined consoles...as it got closer to the end of the decade it got closer and closer. If there was one single game where consoles finally surpassed arcades for good, it was Soul Calibur.

Same here. Easily one of the best midnight launches(on 9/9/99, no less) I've ever been to. I must've spent a good two weeks after that point just playing it to unlock everything. Truthfully, I wish they had kept with the "quasi-nonfictional" SC1 than the fantasy stuff they have now.

I agree. I got my GameCube and SSBM on Christmas 2001, and after playing the game for a while, I declared that video game graphics really had nowhere to go anymore.

Like you said, since the start of the sixth generation, the graphics jumps between generations or consoles have not impressed me in the way that Sonic Adventure on Dreamcast did when I first saw it (the whale scene...).

As much as I loved Soul Calibur back then, I'm not sure virtually reacquiring it will mean much with SC4 coming pretty soon. If you want to have the classics on hand, this isn't a bad way to do it, I guess.

I seem to recall some Kilik related balance issues that were nothing short of horrible, I'm just not sure which iteration of Soul Calibur that was.

I'm pretty sure it was posted as a rumor earlier this month.

Reminds me, I played the Soul Edge arcade machine last week... not bad, I'm pretty awful with the arcade sticks though...

I nearly wore out the controller playing Soul Caliber. What a classic. I wonder how it will hold up?

Wow, Soul Calibur in high-def looks ultra-sharp.

By the way, Schizoid looks like a real winner - love the co-op angle. I have a feeling single player will stink with an AI ally, but rock with another human.
