Official PS3 Bluetooth headset revealed, bundled with SOCOM

SOCOM Confrontation's retail release will include a Bluetooth headset, Sony reconfirmed today -- this time with pictures. While similar to the Jabra headset packaged inside Warhawk's box (and later removed), SOCOM's offering actually appears to be well-designed and, in fact, PlayStation-branded. Features include a prominent Mute button, USB charging cradle, and extended battery life. Sony has neither finalized the design nor priced a standalone model, but the SOCOM bundle is rumored to fetch $80.

it actually looks really cool, stylish, but the MGS4 one looks more comforting...

He just think it loos ugly (I think so too)
But I am looking forward to this, but 80$ sems like a lot, expecially since I already got a bluetooth headset (but not very good)

Admittedly, the MGS4 bluetooth & carrying case are nice... but a bit huge. And it looks like the official PS3 one is just as big(but at least it comes with a charger cradle).

If you guys already have a bluetooth headset(even ones you use with a cellphone), just register that with the console. The PS3 does pick up a wide-variety of them.

It just looks like any other playstation peripheral. I don't really see what would be ugly about it. It looks pretty minimalistic, but everybody has an opinion.

I just didn't know if you were saying that soley based on the fact it was a Playstation product since your avatar says Mass Effect.

I just dont like the style. Thats it.

Bluetooth HEADSET, for crying out loud. There is no such thing as "a Bluetooth". Bluetooth is the communication protocol it uses.

@Raikage: 1+1=2, so if your avatar was Big Boss and you made a disparaging comment about a Microsoft peripheral without any real motive, yeah, I would probably assume that you were a fanboy.

when i heard about the Sony embargo for today, i thought it would be something a little more excitement worthy than this. there is another one for 8am Monday so hopefully its something better. the bluetooth i got with Warhawk works fine.

that is very likely. makes much more sense than a bluetooth headset lol. i hadnt even headed over to PS3fanboy yet. oh well, im not really a SOCOM fan anyway.

Calm down domgbrown, it was a funny comment about their use in general. When someone walks by on the street with one pretty much everyone thinks they look like a jackass.

Mainly because they look like they're talking to themselves.

Only time I ever use any headset is when I'm at home and need to do other stuff or driving because I drive stick.

Sorry, I didn't realize you were referring to people walking around in public talking to themselves. I agree, pretty Douchey.

I heard about the headset on Qore. Hoping it gets a price and is sold seperate from SOCOM. Not that I don't have any love for SOCOM, I just love booting a variety of games directly from XMB and if that option existed for SOCOM, I know I would play it more.

Yeah, I'm surprised that nobody really mentioned that. From the Qore interview, they said that it was going to have two mics for noise cancellation or something.

looks good to me. i might pick up the bundle for it. i heard the MGS4 headset wasn't to good so unless i see it for cheap i'll stick to what i have.

I've heard exactly opposite. A lot of people aren't charging it before they test it (and are therefore getting crappy quality due to reeeaaallly low battery).

see that why i'm holding out, haven't heard enough. i'll still probably wait since i have one and try to catch a deal.

That headset actually looks pretty nice. This is coming from a PCWii60 owner. I would love to have one of those for the 360. And $80 is a great price for the BUNDLE. A normal game would cost $60 so it's only 20 more for a nice headset with cradle. The only reason I don't want a PS3 is I only like one game for it.

How much is a standard bluetooth headset? I think most will be better off buying the game alone and getting some third party headset from a phone shop. Back in the day I wasted money on the Battlefield 2:Command Edition that came with a craptastic headset. To make a long story short: I'm not a big fan of bundles like this.

If it comes with Socom $80 is a good price unless the game is just awful. Hell the 360 one is $60 all by itself. I just use the one that came with the 360 as it works fine and I'm smart enough to handle wires!

ps3 and socom will be my first sony system and game ever! I will definitely pick this up!

We already know that stand alone its gonna be like 60 bucks so it would be encoraged to buy the bundle its just how things work.

I'll get it but barely anyone talks online unless its to diss or act like dicks for no reason what so ever.
