Rainbow Six Vegas 2 getting free multiplayer maps in July
Despite vowing to "never go back to Vegas," Ubisoft is still more than willing to expand the gambler's paradise from afar via downloadable content. Terrorists vs. bandits (some one-armed, others well-armed) showdown, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, will be getting a free "Fan Pack" on Xbox Live, PSN and Ubisoft's website in July, sure to bring a smile to the two million or so people who purchased the game.
The download not only adds three new maps -- the re-lit "Murdertown" and "CQB Training," as well as "Calypso Casino" -- but new multiplayer ranks and several tweaks to weapons, gadgets and other aspects of the game. Read up on all the changes over at the official site.

"New" maps?
2 relit + 1 remake =/= new...
Misfit Toy @ Jun 28th 2008 12:47AM
At least they're free :D Yes, I wish there was more NEWER maps. The third map is actually a map brought over from Vegas 1 (Calypso Casino), so nothing totally new at all. But there are some added A.C.E.S. and ranks beyond Elite that have been added to keep the addiction of "ranking up" going.

Its been so long since I played rb6vegas2. I mean if you are going to release a map or two please do it when people are still playing the damn game instead of when its already gotten old. Now don't get me wrong, I loved it when it first came out but a few new maps won't make me rush to play this anytime soon, especially if they are remakes.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 is still on the top 10 list of most played LIVE games. Just because its not Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4 doesn't mean people aren't playing it. There's still plenty of people online every night. Which is certainly more than I can say for Frontlines: Fuel of War (sigh). I went out to try a game of that the other day and there was 4 people...TOTAL! And that game is newer than all three previously mentioned game.

What happens in Vegas man. This one time... And to cut a long story short, always check the adam's apple.

"please do it when people are still playing the damn game"
This timeframe actually makes plenty of sense as it attracts 2 types of players: new buyers purchasing an older game at the end of its cycle and fans are kept interested in the R6 franchise while the publisher prepares a follow-up.

I loved Rainbow Six: Vegas 1 but I heard to stay clear of the second. Can anybody confirm this? I was amazing at the first one but a lot of my friends said this just isn't that great.
Necki @ Jun 28th 2008 7:08AM
Honestly if you loved Vegas 1 you're 95%+ likely to like the second.
Theres a couple new weapons etc. but, its basically the same game.
Single Player is more "urbanized" that Vegas 1 with the main scenes taking place in sky-scraper style hotels.
Multi-Player is near identical, except not so good. The original Vegas tended to have more skill involved as 'nades were nearly always turned off. Hopefully Calypso Casino will fix this as IMHO it was the best map on vegas 1.
Definitely worth a pick up though.

RSV2 was great because they fixed the bullet lag for the most part, however they fucked everything up when they patched in random spawns, which made it impossible to take control over a map, which is the point of rainbow. People who turn off grenades are idiots, because it just encourages players taking the lead and camping in their own spawn point all day.
Vcize @ Jun 28th 2008 1:45PM
Wait, why didn't they just call this Rainbow 6 Vegas 3 and release it as a whole new game again?
JohnHeist @ Jun 28th 2008 8:07PM
Burn!
I barely played Vegas 2 online...it just doesn't feel right. Plus the lag. *Note: I mean it doesn't feel right at all, not compared. I never really played Vegas 1 that much either*

So the people who dont get the expansion.. will there game play be the same?... how is that fair, as far as the incediary explosion time? And the frags and the zoom differences.. explain this to me.
