Today in Joystiq: July 27, 2008
A freshly-inked arm feature BioShock's Big Daddy and Little Sister, made Wednesday and sent in by Joystiq reader Nate G. He offered to send us pics after it heals, but we think the tinge of blood and pain is appropriate given the tattoo's subject matter. Check out the highlights for today:

Einhanderkiller @ Jun 28th 2008 12:23AM
Ew. That looks terrible.
LeadBoxx @ Jun 28th 2008 11:08AM
I think it looks pretty decent!

I don't know which one is creepier. Big Daddy himself or the doughy white blob of humanity he's forever embedded upon.
Jacksons @ Jun 28th 2008 12:47AM
Just reinforcing Penny Arcade's "normal person + anonymity + audience = total fuckwad" equation?

i was realy excited for bioshock when i first saw the commercial for it without knowing what it was really about or what platform it was for. then i learned i couldn't play as the guy in the suit with the drill and never recovered from that disappointment.
OMGOMG @ Jun 28th 2008 12:58AM
Whatever. You keep on dissing one of the top five videogames of the decade.
j.howlett @ Jun 28th 2008 1:06AM
not a dis fishbowl, i just had different expectations. i plan to give it a try eventually, but as of now i can't get over the fact i won't be able to use that drill on anybody.
caserb @ Jun 28th 2008 2:29AM
Guess you haven't played through the whole game then.
Eh, moving on.
Mode~7 @ Jun 28th 2008 5:54AM
I thought Bioshock was kinda overrated. Everything was excellent except the gameplay. Half-Life had deeper gameplay than Bioshock and it was out what, 10 years ago? Although to be honest, with all the talk of it being a spiritual successor to System Shock 2, I was expecting more of a first person RPG/FPS. When what we got was a straight up FPS with an inventory system. The AI was pretty bad too for this day and age, and the plasmid system felt tacked on and redundant.
nealbailey @ Jun 28th 2008 10:33AM
"then i learned i couldn't play as the guy in the suit with the drill and never recovered from that disappointment."
Um.. yes you can play as the guy in the suit with the drill so clearly you haven't actually played it.
BTW, Bioshock is one of the best games of the decade.
j.howlett @ Jun 28th 2008 11:24AM
i didn't dig to deep into the story or game because it was going to be a game i got when i got my own 360. i didn't watch youtube or read walkthroughs. but now i'm going to find a copy of system shock 2, read some Rand, and watch sealab so i can skip playing it. i was just saying how my excitement wore off after learning the main character wasn't the bigdaddy in the commercial. now i'll just listen to the people who say the moral choices were a crock and the story could of been told better. i'll go read everything i can about this game cause its OMGOMG the best ever and never play it for myself because people on the internet have formed my opinion for me. thank you and i'm off to be enlightened.

thats a shame

Nothing wrong with being a fan, but somethings you just don't do. This is one of them.

Am I the only one that thinks if you're gonna get a tattoo, have something meaningful behind it?
LordChimp @ Jun 28th 2008 1:24AM
I feel the same way. Even thought I have a giant tattoo on my right arm, every tattoo I have ever received has a meaning behind it. Every tattoo is military related, so it's cool to tell everyone when they ask what it means.
Kye - M-Kart Wii 0817-4620-2062 @ Jun 28th 2008 2:58PM
I agree.
Although some tattoo art work can be very nice.
Got a Yin Yang tattoo.
Plus two words in Chinese that represents big parts of my personality.
Probably will get my kid's name in some cool-looking foreign language.

yeah, he's not gonna regret that... already.
LordChimp @ Jun 28th 2008 1:30AM
I have a giant tattoo on my right arm but it isn't videogame related. If he really loved the game, more power to him but I just cannot see myself getting a videogame tattoo. Just think of what people will say when you are old on what it means.

What a waste of ink. Somebody could have eaten that ham.

But... why would you want to get a tattoo of a videogame/characters that will be dead and forgotten in 10 or so years? Stupid.
ThornedVenom (Harley Quinn Defense Force) @ Jun 28th 2008 6:30AM
So that they won't be dead and forgotten in 10 or so years.

Uh, you CAN'T use the drill in BioShock. I own this game and have played through its entirety. Yes, I do recall the little twist near the end, but you NEVER got to use the drill. In fact, the suit you do put on is the Rosie type and not the Bouncer one.
Hotrod @ Jun 28th 2008 6:24PM
Now he just needs to work out a bit, make them guns a bit bigger, and get a tan.
Mike @ Jun 28th 2008 8:05PM
Don't care that he got a tattoo of a video game character. I care that the artist kind of sucks.
Jess @ Jun 28th 2008 10:05PM
I absoluty love this tat. I happen to know the guy that got it, and its the sickest, sexiest thing I've seen. And I don't even like men. As someone who has plenty of work on my body, plus two Final Fantasy VII tats, I am pleased that someone chose to show the power and beauty of a Big Daddy. Just amazing.
CanoeShoe @ Jun 29th 2008 1:23PM
I agree, it's a sexy tattoo and once that heals its going to be amazing. And the artist did an excellent job. And who says it doesnt have any meaning behind it? If someone is passionate about video games isnt that meaning enough? I have a Green Day tattoo because I love Green Day. I would so do this myself. Proppies. I dont like men either.
