Highlights from the Diablo 3 FAQ
If Blizzard's Diablo 3 FAQ page is still acting wonky, or if you're too impatient to read through everything here are the highlights:
- Return to Sanctuary, the same world as the previous 2 games. The game takes place 20 years after Diablo 2.
- There are 5 character classes in the game. We know two so far: a new Witch Doctor class, and a completely redone Barbarian class. Male and female options for all classes.
- Havok-powered physics
- Building on previous random environments, Blizzard promises "a host of new ways to create random scripted events throughout the game."
- Upgraded Battle.net
- Deckard Cain returns, but is noted as the "first victim" of the new horrors
- Plan is to release the game "simultaneously in as many regions as possible, and to localize the game in several languages." The game will ship for Mac and Windows simultaneously.

I have a feeling Witch Doctor replaced Necromancer. I hope not but the play styles seem the same.
Intentless @ Jun 28th 2008 10:55AM
seems almost like a combo of Necro and Druid... Can summon/control animals and wields spells of disease?
driven2sin @ Jun 28th 2008 2:40PM
losing Necro will be sad- just because ppl pissed on druids doesn't mean you should morph Necro
I guess they are so worried about the balancing crybabies that they rather start with 5 to make it easy

Witch doctor looks cool, destructible environments look great, Deckard Cain is a legend, but the real question is, with the Soulstones of Diablo, Kain and Mephisto destroyed in D2, how does the storyline of this one pan out?
Ihavepants @ Jun 28th 2008 10:39PM
Simple, the world stone from Lord Of Destruction was what also helped seperate the different realms, Heaven-Sanctuary-Hell and at the end of LOD it was destroyed. The prime evils no longer have the soulstones and they do not need them. (Wern't the soulstones made from the worldstone?)
Or they'll just make up some random shit that'll end up making sense, I don't care all that much either way as Diablo's story was never the ingredient that drew me to it.
Intentless @ Jun 28th 2008 10:54AM
Only five classes... Sigh... Will have to make due with what they give us then... Most likely the "assassin" won't be one of them...
mocax @ Jun 28th 2008 11:02AM
I think it'll take an awful long time for the assassin to backstab 200 monsters one at a time.

That's what the expansion packs are for!
mundox @ Jun 28th 2008 9:33PM
You don't have to worry, 2 (or more I hope) will be added in the expansion.

I feel like a little kid. I haven't been this excited on a Saturday morning since the premier of Spider-Man:TAS.
Josh @ Jun 28th 2008 11:00AM
Oh, so it *is* Diablo 3?

Ihavepants @ Jun 28th 2008 10:49PM

Blizzard, I think I love you!
Anyone else notice the purple items in the video? Along with the yellows? And the "power rune"?
Jack N @ Jun 28th 2008 10:39PM
saw the topaz.

"Plan is to release the game "simultaneously in as many regions as possible, and to localize the game in several languages." The game will ship for Mac and Windows simultaneously."
This is one of the many reasons I love Blizzard. They treat their customers right. They love to please their fans, and they always manage to do it well even though they could take the easy way out at this point and people would still buy their games. This, in addition to their philosophy of reasonable system requirements make them a company made of win. I HEART BLIZZARD.

The one thing I'd like to see in D3 not in D2 is some regular maintenance. Blizzard has a terrible reputation when it comes to taking care of their games.
Reelix @ Jul 3rd 2008 5:15AM
Is it just me, or does the With Doctor's "Fireball" spell look an awful lot like the Titan Quest Pyromancers Fireball spell... ?
