Poll results: 43% of Joystiq readers were right about Diablo 3

It turns out Joystiq readers are very smart soothsayers (not that the entire internet didn't see it coming, either through wishful thinking or horribly Photoshopped images "leaked from Blizzard's servers"). When the mysterious week-long splash page started, we asked you to predict the announcement expected at the Worldwide Invitational. Here were your top three answers:

Diablo 3, and it's about time! (43.8%)
Wrath of the Lich King release date (19.2%)
Starcraft 2 release date (8.9%)

Congratulations to everyone who guessed right. And as for everyone else ... hey, what are you complaining about? You still got Diablo 3!

Im glad Diablo 3 is finally on its way but they made the 1 mistake I expected... it looks like world of warcraft and that kinda pisses me off as a hardcore Diablo fan.

It looks like the old Diablo revamped to me more than WoW. The classic good and loot drop on floor. Clickable walls and chest! Everything screams Diablo

I don't get all these comments saying it does not look like Warcraft, while in many ways it does.

The comparison we are making to it is the relatively simple "cartoonish" models and flat low resolution textures.

Diablo was always pre-rendered sprites for everything but at least everything was well rounded and natural looking. Diablo 3, Starcraft 2 and Warcraft have pointed corners in their character and world models.

Having said all that I still think that Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 look very good IN MOTION, it's just that their still screenshot counterparts do not do justice to the animation. I will buy this game and it looks great, but to me and a lot of the fans of the original 2 games... the style could do with leaning a bit more into the dark-gritty world we know and love.

I dont get diablo? What would you compare it to? I never played #2 but afterw atching some gamepaly footage of #3 (youtube has some just added a few hours back) I t looks like your just going through a dungeon doing different moves to kill useless enemies. Sorta like boulders gate or something. So why is the game so special? myabe i should download diablo 2, and see if thats any good.

Diablo II was made of Win, I don’t think I could compare it to any other games since many games tried to copy Diablo in the first place. I believe Diablo II should be on the list of best games of all time, even for today standards is still quite good. Play it, you won’t regret it.

Diablo III looks good but I’m going to miss the potion bar. Diablo games were epic and many developers tried and failed to recreate the same experience, this one doesn’t looks as original. They make a lot of reference to Diablo II; I hope is not a fan game. Diablo games were awesome for its originality.

To be honest I would like Diablo III to be a MMO.

Oh wow, you just compared Baldur's Gate to Diablo and said that they were the same...

Correct- Diablo is a mostly mindless click fest that is very fun and addictive.

Incorrect- Saying that Baldur's Gate is anything like that. Baldur's Gate was tactical, one move against some of the harder fights could win or lose it for you. And the game was not focussed on combat anyway.

They HAVE to have potions.
You need it for Epic Boss Battles

I think they just took away enemies dropping it so the game can go on faster.
But for big bosses? you need to stack up on 20 of them

Diablo II was the largest single time sink in the history of video games (maybe with the exception of damned pokemon....I just had to catch them all). I'm a bit bummed that they are going the strictly non-cutting-edge-graphics route, but other than that, I'll be very happy when this thing comes out.

Also, as an aside, I love all the people that are now like "Screw you guys, I knew it'd be Diablo III all along" when there were A: No clues B: Nothing suggesting it would be D3 over more Starcraft news or Wrath of the Lich King and C: they're douches.

It's a nice consolation, but I'm not kidding when I say that I was really looking forward to a Rock 'n Roll Racing update.
