Can't wait to get my hands on this... Any word on a release date?
lessthan12parsecs @ Jun 28th 2008 9:56AM
WANT NOW PLS!!!
Just when I was over my addiction to World of Warcrack, Blizzard comes along and pushes more sweet, sweet rock on us.
Veko @ Jun 28th 2008 9:56AM
Hell yes!
Spore was just knocked down to number two on my list of most anticipated games.
meist3r @ Jun 28th 2008 10:02AM
The CG in those cutscenes reminded me of Lord of the Rings a lot. Then I realized that this is a freaking videogame ... OMG. Diablo 3 looks brilliant. I'm not sure about one thing though. They say they have implemented a sort of health item system. But does that replace potions altogether? Can't imagine that.
This will be a blast to play. Hope they'll be able to ship soon.
AwesomeTown @ Jun 28th 2008 10:03AM
Looks Awesome. Sounds Awesome. This is the kind of RPG action I've been waiting for.
DiggyStyle @ Jun 28th 2008 10:04AM
This. Is. Amazing. I thought I would never see the day....
I plan to see this release sometime between late 2009 - mid 2010, but it will probably be 2012 or so.
I hope I am way off though and it comes out 1 year from today!
JetPogi @ Jun 28th 2008 10:04AM
now if marvel could just slap thor's face on that barbarian it would really make a good game. Diablo 3 and SC2 what more could you ask for? oh yeah a new Warcraft pls...but for now consider stoked.
bluestriker @ Jun 28th 2008 10:12AM
Bad. Ass.
Efren @ Jun 28th 2008 10:14AM
WOw.. I was not a fan of the first diablo games.. but I must say the gameplay video for diablo 3 looks incredible.
eldee @ Jun 28th 2008 10:17AM
I'm so glad blizzard realizes that not everybody likes MMO's. They could've made Diablo 3 a money printer just like WoW, but they stuck to the format (and will probably still end up making a truckload of cash on it). Today is a great day!
Supino @ Jun 28th 2008 10:19AM
This looks awesome! Cannot wait. 2010 release?
ww3ace @ Jun 28th 2008 10:30AM
did anyone else notice the Halo 3 intro in there?
t_m @ Jun 28th 2008 10:34AM
Is that a Balrog?
Ihavepants @ Jun 28th 2008 9:29PM
Attempt to fail harder plox.
theturtle363 @ Jun 28th 2008 10:52AM
Was that Jennifer Hale as the narrator? Or was it the same person who did Jaina in WC3?
t_m @ Jun 28th 2008 10:53AM
I must say i never played Diablo 1 or 2, but the gameplay looks really dull.
The engine, characters and lighting look really nice (and the animation isn't bad, if a little disjointed), but gameplay wise it already looks really repetitive... I guess it must be one of those games you have to play to appreciate.
tmacairjordan87 @ Jun 28th 2008 12:11PM
I thought the same thing but I remembered that I play dynasty warriors. When I watch videos of a new DW game I say wow same thing all the time, but when I play it I can somehow play it for hours without getting bored.
To me, Diablo 3 looks like that type of game that I could easily waste hours on even though I really am just hackin and slashin.
juju187 @ Jun 28th 2008 11:42AM
very nice, but why doesnt blizz come back to console gaming...
Ralod @ Jun 28th 2008 6:08PM
Come back? 1 game and 2 ports basically means they never were a console developer. Confirmed at the WWI today, they are pc and Mac developers, consoles are not in their future.
hotnutz @ Jun 28th 2008 10:18PM
god I hope they don't ever go down the road of console gaming. Playing mindless and dumbed down games on consoles is fun to waste a few hours but please leave us some more intelligent and more strategic gaming on the PC.
Solar @ Jun 28th 2008 12:05PM
There aren't any seeders for their gameplay video torrent. :(
Batto_man @ Jun 28th 2008 12:27PM
I hope there will be another hidden Cow level?
Parasite_Evil @ Jun 28th 2008 12:57PM
YES. OMFG YES.

oy gamevideos takes forever, i load the video take a nap then watch half the video and then take another nap to watch the other half.
aristokrat @ Jun 28th 2008 3:00PM
Looks like I might have to stick by my previous assertion and not get this game because they released the video to GameVideos. How sad. GameVideos is the like the RealPlayer of the 2000's.
SabreCat @ Jun 28th 2008 5:12PM
It's up on Gametrailers now, much faster.
Advent @ Jun 28th 2008 1:41PM
Another hack slash crawler? yay.....I would rather have Rock n' Roll Racing II, or Lost Vikings...
WorMzy @ Jun 28th 2008 2:20PM
Yawn. Looks like a mediocre RPG from 4 years ago. I think that people are just getting excited because it's Blizzard.
Rob @ Jun 28th 2008 3:07PM
You had me at Diablo.
Chris @ Jun 28th 2008 3:08PM
This looks way too much like WoW. I wish they had kept the graphical style of the original game. Why did they get rid of potions, dumb decision? This game looks dumb. Hopefully it's free to play, otherwise I'll stick with D2:LoD.
Mutagenaric @ Jun 28th 2008 4:20PM
This looks nothing like WoW, except that it now is not sprite-based. So, by that same reasoning, Halo, BioShock, and MGS4 are, in fact, just like World of Warcraft. Stylistically, it resembles the other Diablos very much.
Potions have not been destroyed, from what I can see. They just have a healing item that can be used mid-battle for instant health; I imagine potions would remain for additional healing and other effects.
I can't imagine it not being free-to-play, considering that a single-player experience is possible, according to the FAQs.
It looks epic, I especially enjoyed that bit where the demon-monster bit one of the characters in half. One question: is the necromancer being replaced by the witch-doctor, then? Only, they seem to have similar capabilities, and with only 5 classes I imagine Blizzard would want to avoid overlap as much as possible.
Ihavepants @ Jun 28th 2008 10:52PM

I don't get all these comments saying it does not look like Warcraft, while in many ways it does.
The comparison we are making to it is the relatively simple "cartoonish" models and flat low resolution textures.
Diablo was always pre-rendered sprites for everything but at least everything was well rounded and natural looking. Diablo 3, Starcraft 2 and Warcraft have pointed corners in their character and world models.
Having said all that I still think that Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 look very good IN MOTION, it's just that their still screenshot counterparts do not do justice to the animation. I will buy this game and it looks great, but to me and a lot of the fans of the original 2 games... the style could do with leaning a bit more into the dark-gritty world we know and love.
Ihavepants @ Jun 28th 2008 11:17PM
Basically what I'm saying can mostly be summed up by this

now release diablo 1 or 2 for the nintendo DS to hold me over and i'll be happy as a clam. (yes im going to keep talking about diablo on the DS for as long as i live)
Ihavepants @ Jun 28th 2008 9:30PM
That would be a good plan and I would play it... until my wrist started hurting... which wouldn't take long.
Would be fun while it lasted I suppose.
343 Guilty Fart @ Jun 28th 2008 5:28PM
Wow, the female vocals sound like the same singer from Battlestar Galactica soundtrack.
ZapDash @ Jun 28th 2008 9:30PM
I've never even played Diablo and that trailer gave me chills. Very good promo.
Smitty @ Jun 29th 2008 12:00PM
It has been a long eight years (and no doubt a long year to go).
Chadd @ Jun 30th 2008 7:33AM
While it does look nice, I'm really not getting what all the excitement is about. Looks like a standard hack and slash. I really like the comment in the gameplay video about this "new kind of dropped item that restores health". They present it like it's some amazing advancement for video games rather than something that's been pretty standard for years.
Oh well, to each their own.
MannPower @ Jul 1st 2008 11:04AM
A non-MMO Diablo? Thank god. Blizzard's coming back to the light. I'm sick of their MMORPG focus.
