Just when I was over my addiction to World of Warcrack, Blizzard comes along and pushes more sweet, sweet rock on us.

The CG in those cutscenes reminded me of Lord of the Rings a lot. Then I realized that this is a freaking videogame ... OMG. Diablo 3 looks brilliant. I'm not sure about one thing though. They say they have implemented a sort of health item system. But does that replace potions altogether? Can't imagine that.
This will be a blast to play. Hope they'll be able to ship soon.

I'm so glad blizzard realizes that not everybody likes MMO's. They could've made Diablo 3 a money printer just like WoW, but they stuck to the format (and will probably still end up making a truckload of cash on it). Today is a great day!

Was that Jennifer Hale as the narrator? Or was it the same person who did Jaina in WC3?

I must say i never played Diablo 1 or 2, but the gameplay looks really dull.
The engine, characters and lighting look really nice (and the animation isn't bad, if a little disjointed), but gameplay wise it already looks really repetitive... I guess it must be one of those games you have to play to appreciate.

I thought the same thing but I remembered that I play dynasty warriors. When I watch videos of a new DW game I say wow same thing all the time, but when I play it I can somehow play it for hours without getting bored.
To me, Diablo 3 looks like that type of game that I could easily waste hours on even though I really am just hackin and slashin.

god I hope they don't ever go down the road of console gaming. Playing mindless and dumbed down games on consoles is fun to waste a few hours but please leave us some more intelligent and more strategic gaming on the PC.

Looks like I might have to stick by my previous assertion and not get this game because they released the video to GameVideos. How sad. GameVideos is the like the RealPlayer of the 2000's.

While it does look nice, I'm really not getting what all the excitement is about. Looks like a standard hack and slash. I really like the comment in the gameplay video about this "new kind of dropped item that restores health". They present it like it's some amazing advancement for video games rather than something that's been pretty standard for years.
Oh well, to each their own.

Yawn. Looks like a mediocre RPG from 4 years ago. I think that people are just getting excited because it's Blizzard.

This looks way too much like WoW. I wish they had kept the graphical style of the original game. Why did they get rid of potions, dumb decision? This game looks dumb. Hopefully it's free to play, otherwise I'll stick with D2:LoD.

This looks nothing like WoW, except that it now is not sprite-based. So, by that same reasoning, Halo, BioShock, and MGS4 are, in fact, just like World of Warcraft. Stylistically, it resembles the other Diablos very much.
Potions have not been destroyed, from what I can see. They just have a healing item that can be used mid-battle for instant health; I imagine potions would remain for additional healing and other effects.
I can't imagine it not being free-to-play, considering that a single-player experience is possible, according to the FAQs.
It looks epic, I especially enjoyed that bit where the demon-monster bit one of the characters in half. One question: is the necromancer being replaced by the witch-doctor, then? Only, they seem to have similar capabilities, and with only 5 classes I imagine Blizzard would want to avoid overlap as much as possible.

I don't get all these comments saying it does not look like Warcraft, while in many ways it does.
The comparison we are making to it is the relatively simple "cartoonish" models and flat low resolution textures.
Diablo was always pre-rendered sprites for everything but at least everything was well rounded and natural looking. Diablo 3, Starcraft 2 and Warcraft have pointed corners in their character and world models.
Having said all that I still think that Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 look very good IN MOTION, it's just that their still screenshot counterparts do not do justice to the animation. I will buy this game and it looks great, but to me and a lot of the fans of the original 2 games... the style could do with leaning a bit more into the dark-gritty world we know and love.

That would be a good plan and I would play it... until my wrist started hurting... which wouldn't take long.
Would be fun while it lasted I suppose.

A non-MMO Diablo? Thank god. Blizzard's coming back to the light. I'm sick of their MMORPG focus.
