Just when I was over my addiction to World of Warcrack, Blizzard comes along and pushes more sweet, sweet rock on us.

Spore was just knocked down to number two on my list of most anticipated games.

This will be a blast to play. Hope they'll be able to ship soon.

I plan to see this release sometime between late 2009 - mid 2010, but it will probably be 2012 or so.
I hope I am way off though and it comes out 1 year from today!

The engine, characters and lighting look really nice (and the animation isn't bad, if a little disjointed), but gameplay wise it already looks really repetitive... I guess it must be one of those games you have to play to appreciate.

To me, Diablo 3 looks like that type of game that I could easily waste hours on even though I really am just hackin and slashin.

Potions have not been destroyed, from what I can see. They just have a healing item that can be used mid-battle for instant health; I imagine potions would remain for additional healing and other effects.
I can't imagine it not being free-to-play, considering that a single-player experience is possible, according to the FAQs.
It looks epic, I especially enjoyed that bit where the demon-monster bit one of the characters in half. One question: is the necromancer being replaced by the witch-doctor, then? Only, they seem to have similar capabilities, and with only 5 classes I imagine Blizzard would want to avoid overlap as much as possible.
I don't get all these comments saying it does not look like Warcraft, while in many ways it does.
The comparison we are making to it is the relatively simple "cartoonish" models and flat low resolution textures.
Diablo was always pre-rendered sprites for everything but at least everything was well rounded and natural looking. Diablo 3, Starcraft 2 and Warcraft have pointed corners in their character and world models.
Having said all that I still think that Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 look very good IN MOTION, it's just that their still screenshot counterparts do not do justice to the animation. I will buy this game and it looks great, but to me and a lot of the fans of the original 2 games... the style could do with leaning a bit more into the dark-gritty world we know and love.

Would be fun while it lasted I suppose.
