We're very relieved to know that the 20GB Xbox 360 model isn't advanced enough to experience the equivalent of a mid-life crisis. Not only are a string of alleged retailer ads knocking its asking price down to $299 in July, but an Opposable Thumbs source is suggesting that the model will soon be discontinued and replaced by younger, better model packing 60 gigglebytes.
Still, it's a rumor we've heard before (remember this?), one the "usually trustworthy source" indicates will become reality during E3. Fluctuating hard drive capacities, multiple SKUs and retired models: Welcome to the current generation!

Yes, I agree that 20GB of storage for $100 in 2008 is beyond ridiculous.

Why can't they just make the hard drive easily replaceable like SATA instead of their own proprietary connection...

Well I could do with a 60gb hard drive cos I'm not willing to pay for a 120gb one. £130 ($260) in the UK, see why?

speaking of the Arcade model, they need to lower the prices of the stand-alone hard drives. the prices for the 20/120gig models are absurd.

Sony needs to release a 350GB PS3 for 550$
Then all this my GB is bigger then your GB will stop.
I would suggest Microsoft get a 350GB drive, but at 100$ for 20GB, 350GB would be $1750 $2000.00 in Canada... and you wouldn't get the console.

20 gb is way too small for nowdays. always playing catchup arent you MS.
still if true, would be the right move as well as respecting its customers by not restraining them to have limited content from xbl market.

20GB is fine for the 360 because it doesn't have to install 5 gigs worth of data for every fucking game.
