Well, this royally sucks: Eternity's Child creator Luc Bernard has admitted that there are no plans to bring quirky platform game Eternity's Child to North America's WiiWare service. Instead, only Europe will receive the title, with Bernard anticipating a release there "at the end of Q3."
Speaking to WiiWare World, Bernard said that he had no control over when or where the game comes out, and that UK publisher Alten8 was in charge of such matters. The only consolation for U.S. fans eagerly awaiting the game is that a version will be available to PC owners via the Steam service at the end of this month. But, y'know, we deal with Wii here, so we're officially disappointed.
Also in his chat with WiiWare World, Bernard defended World of Goo's shift to retail in Europe, and complained that publishers had little time for innovative games, even on WiiWare. Quoth Bernard: "Maybe I should put in a space marine with a gun that is defending Earth from space Nazis for them to be interested!" Space Nazis? We'd actually play that.
[Thanks, fco!]

This is extremely disappointing, though being able to purchase the game on PC will be a small consolation.

Hmm... tough break; this looked like a great game.
Now I'll be forced to blast away some space Nazis...

well, this game looks to be a bad title. interesting art style but thats the only thing going for it really, and at that its nothing really to gasp and awe at. Sides, the creator is full of himself and one less snobby self righteous "artist" we have floating his big head the better.

Does anyone else find it bizarre that games are being withheld from different regions on *WIIWARE*?
It's all 0s and 1s, Nintendo. It should be global.

wow, what a shame. Given how hyped this was leading up to the release of WiiWare I was actually looking forward to something unique and visually appealing. Sure Lost Winds was a solid buy but the lack of games worth playing is a disappointment. This just adds another frowny face to my day.

You know, at least with physical media we had the option of buying a legal, imported copy on a Wii with an illegal mod chip. Now the only way for North American Wii owners to play this will involve both DMCA-forbidden modchips as well as actual copyright infringement, as torrents of region-unlocked WAD files are constantly being posted.
Between region-locked Wiiware and Wii Menu 3.3, a mod chip is starting to look more and more appealing to me.
