I would love to see even basic character customization in this iteration. That being said, I'm psyched!

I'm confused by several things....

--
"Do you plan to keep the 4/5 man typical group size or will you design for much larger groups?"
--
There were parties of up to 8 people in Diablo 2, not "4 or 5 people".

--
"It's a fresh start, we haven't finalized the final classes or how many there will be."
--
Their own FAQ stated that there will be 5 classes...

Nothing is finalized, I wouldn't take a Q&A session or even the FAQ as gospel on this. In other reporting, it sounded to me like that have 5 classes, but that may or may not be what the finished product ships with.

The max was eight, but, and don't quote me on this, I believe it was stated in the gameplay video that the designers felt that four or five people was the most comfortable and enjoyable experience whereas the eight players felt a bit cluttered. So they're basing the gameplay a bit around having four or five players, despite allowing up to eight players in the game.

As long as they don't actually shrink the max group size, I'll be happy...

I'm glad they are acknowledging that being able to respec characters is a good thing. I hated having to use a savehack program to mess around with my offline character rather than just be able to experiment with a new ability in game and then decide I wanted something else.

I really really hope they keep the runes to 1.09 level. 1.11 or w/e rune words were overpowered to the level of making everything else obsolete.

I loved D2 as a trading game, probably spent 90% of my time in trade channels/games. Runes in 1.1 destroyed trading to the point where all people ever cared about were runes.

I could not agree more. All unique items that filled slots where socketed items could be placed were rendered obsolete. It took me weeks of dedication to get my 245% Grandfather only to see it toppled by the Breath of the Dying runeword, in the 1.10 patch a couple of weeks later. The same happened to almost all the other top uniques.

I wonder what they're gonna do after SC2 and D3..
I havent met a Blizzard game I havent enjoyed, but I hope we can see some new franchise from them soon.. Dont want them to be like Nintendo and release Warcraft 8 and World of Starcraft 2..

I just hope they don't implement a monthly fee for using battle.net.

I detest the idea of a monster dropping loot individual to each person, that alone will take out a huge amount of the feel of the game. That rush you get when you see a high rune drop and everyone sprinting over to it is unparalleled in any game I have played.

Also WoW sucks.

This is the first time since I decided to stop putting money into PCs and only game on consoles that I feel a little sad that I was forced to make a decision. Diablo rocks, and it's great to see that such a talented design team is so successful.

I just hope they don't delay the release any futher than it may be. There's still a lot of SC2 fans itching for the release and I hope to god that D3 will be released while there is still such massive hype and not in 1-2 years as I fear it might.

I just hope that they don't delay the release date for much longer. There's still a lot of SC2 fans and non fans eagerly awaiting the release of SC2. Allthough the main hype of SC2 is wearing of a lot more seeing how long the website has been up and I hope they don't do the same with D3 and leave it another 1-2 years before we can play it. That being said it does need to be perfectly polished and allthough i'd rather play it buggy and not finished i'm sure i'll have to wait.

"A: It's not settled but Blizzard's goal is to support a broad set of systems. We'll have as low system requirements as we can. We don't plan to use DirectX 10 at the moment."

Actually what he said was "We don't require DirectX 10" - full audio here, 9 minutes in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJis3LA1SOc

Which is very different to not using it when it's present.

The Inquirer claim it'll use DirectX 10.1 - http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2008/06/30/blizzard-snubs-nvidia-diablo - but whether they're pulling that out their ass I don't know.
