All I want in a Castlevania game on the Wii is 2D Wiimote whipping. It's not difficult. You want to whip up? Flick the Wiimote upwards. Whip left? Flick it left.
Simple, non-tiring actions. I have no idea why more people can't see it!

good suggestions. one problem in my opinion with the 3d castlevanias is the lack of color. most of the time when polygons are used in games, devs seem to forget fun colors and go with drab realistic colors. im not saying i blame them because it only makes sense to want to make a dark, scary castle look like a real castle if youre making models and textures for a playstation 2/xbox game. the problem is, one of the most appealing aspects to castlevania is its visuals, the vibrant hues that bring the castle to life actually wouldnt make sense if in a lot of their places if you sat back and thought about it.

another thing ive thought about is that we dont really need another metroidvania on a home console, the ds suits it just fine. i personally would love to see them return to their classic simple platforming roots with the rpg elements from the classic games. the wii to me is perfect for something like this. you can use the remote + nunchuck ala twilight princess and galaxy, and just waggle the remote a bit to perform basic whip attacks. designs by ayame and soundtrack by michiru would be very helpful, but itd be nice for once to see them ditch the focus on exploration, and make it about the whip. lets level up the character still, give them more than just sub items and actual cool magic, and then lets have the whip upgrades similar to the old games that extend the whip and turn it metal, until they finally get the vampire killer. lots of platforming stages that focus on swinging with the whip, use the whip to whip around items and bring them closer to the protagonist. i think they could make one of the best 2d platformers ever created.

Great article. I think Castlevania as a WiiWare title would really boost the appeal of the service for core gamers old and new. Dawn of Sorrow is under 64MB, so it's possible to create an excellent WiiWare Castlevania with its current size limitations.
