GoldenEye 007's KLOBB returns in Too Human
Silicon Knights' long-awaited Xbox 360 action game Too Human is giving a shout out to a N64 classic, according to Wired. GoldenEye 007, the groundbreaking console FPS developed by Rare, featured a gun called the "KLOBB" – a nod to then Nintendo designer Ken Lobb, who helped out during the game's development. The gun was also the weakest in the game. D'oh!
Too Human promises hundreds of items ... and one of them, as Wired has uncovered, is the KLOBB. Not surprising considering that Ken Lobb is now serving as Creative Director at Microsoft Game Studios and is working closely with Silicon Knights on its game. For the record, it has a damage rating of 18.

Mmmmmm..... open faced KLOBB sandwich....
GreyFox @ Jul 1st 2008 2:19AM
This is funny but the more I see of this game the more hesitant I am. I WANT to like this game but little things keep cropping up in gameplay videos and cut scenes that set off warning alarms for me.

Is that rifle really as effective as it sounds?
dnl2ba @ Jul 1st 2008 3:21AM
You have to love "Ancient Alloyed Rifle of Effectiveness." Are we sure that isn't just a placeholder?
JohnMazz @ Jul 1st 2008 9:11AM
Growing up playing golden eye multilayer, we had a rule that you couldn't shoot someone till they had a gun themselves, and a Klobb didn't count as a gun...

You guys were pussies then. >8|
NoHitHair @ Jul 1st 2008 3:58PM
And the other Goldeneye rule used in many households: no playing Oddjob.
LordKelvin @ Jul 1st 2008 2:27AM
Strange, I remember that the Klobb was one of the more fun weapons in Goldeneye (and one of my favorites, next to the Dostevei). Especially when you used the All Weapons cheat and dual-wielded it...

Yeah, I totally agree with you Greyfox. Initially I was really pumped for this game, but I've grown more apprehensive as I learn more about the game, especially some of the design choices they've made with the gameplay.
Speaking of which, if anyone's interested, I just wrote an article about what I consider to be "The Best and Worst of Too Human":

You wrote a best and worst article for a game that you've never played and isn't even out yet?...

Two things earn you being given shit here today:
1) Writing a blog on plus/minus points for a game you have yet to play.
2) Pimping your blog on another blog. We all hate that.

I don't trust Silicon Knights after Twin Snakes. We were promised tons of extras and all we got was a Mario statue in Otacon's office. Fuck that dumb shit.
DarkNessBear @ Jul 1st 2008 3:29AM
WELL, that seems pretty cool... but I have a hard time remembering that gun in the game.
elmer @ Jul 1st 2008 6:29AM
While the Klobb is truly crap, I found it worked rather well on one-shot-kills. It's ludicrous inaccuracy meant that it's fire sprayed all over the place, increasing your chance of hitting the enemy somewhere when there's not enough time to aim. From what I hear, that's one of the reasons people liked the Kalashnikov
AwesomeTown @ Jul 1st 2008 7:20AM
KLOBB = BB gun
Haon @ Jul 1st 2008 8:15AM
In my little group the klobb was purely a weapon you used to embarrass your victim. I wonder if it is the same thing here?
Shmil @ Jul 1st 2008 11:03AM
oh trust me you're not the only group of friends who tried to insult one another by a klobb kill
ScottG13 @ Jul 1st 2008 8:21AM
A truely useless gun on almost every setting.
In our gaming group, a Klobb kill was one of the most ignominious.
Also spawned many great laughs when a Klobb wielder would be going against a player with a real gun and would shout "Its KLOBBERIN' TIME!"
J @ Jul 1st 2008 10:56AM
Klobb = no pants
The_Black_Circle @ Jul 1st 2008 11:47AM
It must be early, because that made me laugh.
LordChimp @ Jul 1st 2008 11:05AM
I always hated the KLOBB.
Jhongerkong @ Jul 1st 2008 11:28AM
Everyone knows the best gun in Goldeneye was the RCP-90
shMerker @ Jul 1st 2008 2:02PM
Sure the Klobb was weak, but at least AIs could fire it point blank and through prison bars, something they couldn't figure out with the KF7. Also, it was one of the more rapid guns in the game, making it a superior choice for license to kill mode.
Donald @ Jul 1st 2008 2:23PM
License to Kill
Slappers Only
No Oddjob

proximity mines in that level that was in Perfect Dark as well.

You're going to have to be more specific Colin, there were 3.
aristokrat @ Jul 1st 2008 3:24PM
I'm still sad they didn't bring this game to XBLA.
michas_pi @ Jul 1st 2008 9:13PM
Back in the day, my friend called it "the rubber band gun".
Mr Khan @ Jul 1st 2008 9:50PM
Silicon Knights is still relatively close to Nintendo, as they own a good bit of their stock
