News from the MGS we haven't heard from in a while now, with Microsoft Game Studios Europe explaining why simultaneous releases on the Xbox 360 and PC don't always make business sense. Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, Peter Zetterberg, business development manager for MGS Europe, described such releases as the equivalent of placing a bullet in the foot.
"On a global scale the Windows Vista business is as important as our Xbox 360 business. But in Germany for example, we want more gamers to buy our Xbox 360," Zetterberg said. "If we launch a game that is on 360 and PC simultaneously, we basically shoot ourselves in the foot by allowing the German market to choose to play the PC version – because they are more likely to buy that than spend their money on the Xbox 360."
Though the absence of immediate consumer choice is always regrettable, the sharing of exclusives between two platforms will inevitably put the least popular one at a disadvantage. After all, why would you purchase an Xbox 360 if the game you want would work just fine, if not better, on your Vista PC? Microsoft isn't just leaving the PC with leftovers, though, as Zetterberg adds that the publisher is always looking to tweak its business model to allow for a "multitude" of independent titles "under an MGS flag." Kinda like PC Live Arcade ... hey, whatever happened to that?

So you mean a company is more worried about which version of game they sell, rather than thinking about us, the gamers, and our dream that both PC vs Console will one day be able to duke it out in the greatest war of the new century?
now why would they do that?
now why would they do that?

Considering the PC gets new products every 5 months compared to the consoles getting it every 5 years, it's safe to say the PC will win every time. Not to mention the fact that, olawd, a console is just a watered-down PC.

Fuck you, Microsoft. I'm a PC gamer and I want games on PC. This makes me want to go out and sell my 360 right now. I hate to support something that's ruining my favorite platform.
I am a PC gamer first, console gamer second. Please don't fight against the PC.

I think that it's funny that MS does the Windows Gaming initiative. http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2008/jan08/01-07G4WCES2008PR.mspx they say "Driving the PC Gaming Industry Forward", but in this article they say "we want more gamers to buy our Xbox 360" than to buy the pc version of the game. Way to drive the pc gaming forward M$.

Yeah it just sucks that i wont get to slaughter my friend with a mouse and keyboard wile they're playing their xbox or ps3. well not anytime soon at least.
They should just release both at the same time, and have them multi-platform compatible right away. of course more people would buy the PC version, but you have more people to play with right away.

And then Microsoft tries to act like it is helping the PC platform.

Unspoken reasons: 1) console more profitable due to the licensing fees on each game. 2) it's easier to pirate for the pc, and they'll end up with less total (360+PC) sales if it is simultaneously released.
